It can support up to 16 40 GbE ports, or a mix of 10 GbE, 40 GbE, and HiGig™ ports, adding up to 640 Gbps. The SVK is based on the BCM56846 device, a high-density 64-port 10 GbE switch on a single chip, and a member of the StrataXGS® product family. The SVK platform showcases the BCM56846 device, delivering 64 ports of 10 GbE via Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable (QSFP) connectors and cabling. Each of the 64 ports can be configured to run at 1 GbE, 2.5 GbE, 10 GbE, or HiGig. The BCM956846KQ also includes a modular PowerPC8548 CPU subsystem capable of running advanced management software.
