The BCM56850 is a family of Ethernet switches designed to address performance, capacity, and service requirements for next-generation data center and cloud computing environments, 10G Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) Access Infrastructure, Mobile Core Network, and Enterprise Core equipment. The BCM956850K also includes a modular PowerPC8548 CPU subsystem capable of running advanced management software. The CPU subsystem connects to the main PCB via an internal XMC slot, supporting PCI Express®.
