INFORMATION
PIR SENSOR INTERFACE
WITH VERY LOW SUPPLY CURRENT
DIFFERENTIAL AMPLIFIER
Each stage of the two stage Differential Amplifier can be set to
have its own amplification and bandwidth. The two inputs to the
first stage allow for single-ended or differential connection to PIR
Sensors. This stage can be biased anywhere in its dynamic
range. The second stage is internally biased so that the Window
Comparator’s lower and higher thresholds can be fixed relative to
this bias. Signal levels as low as 100µV can be detected.
WINDOW COMPARATOR
The Window Comparator provides noise filtering by enabling only
those signals equal to or greater than a fixed threshold at the output of the Differential Amplifier to appear at the two outputs of the
Window Comparator. One output detects positive input signals
while the other output detects negative input signals.
COMPARATOR DIGITAL FILTER,
OUTPUT DURATION TIMER
An external timer RC network sets both the digital filter duration
time and the output duration timer. The outputs of the Window
Comparator are filtered so that motion must be present for a
50ms duration before it can be recognized and appear as pulses
at the Digital Filter outputs. The output duration timer is normally
set to 4 seconds but is retriggerable depending on the inhibit
timer select input.
WINDOW TIMER
In the Dual Pulse Mode any two detections must occur within a
timing window to cause an output to occur. In the triple pulse
mode any three detections must occur within a timing window to
cause an output to occur. The timing window is programmable
using an external RC network.

MODE SELECT

DETECTION MODE
Positive or Negative Input
(Single Pulse Mode)
Any two detections occuring within a
specific time (Dual Pulse Mode)
Any three detections occuring within a
specific time (Triple Pulse Mode)
INHIBIT TIMER SELECT INPUT
After the successful detection of an input signal, additional inputs
can be inhibited for either 1.5 minutes, 3 minutes or not at all as
determined by a tristate input pin.
LOW BATTERY ADJUST INPUT
An external resistor divider network at the low battery adjust input
is used to set the voltage where the low battery indicator output
occurs.
INTRUSION DETECTION OUTPUT
The intrusion detection output produces a high level CMOS compatible signal whenever a valid input occurs whose duration is
equal to the output duration timer.
LOW BATTERY OUTPUT
The low battery output normally provides a high level signal for 2
seconds set by the external timer RC when detecting low battery.
The LS6521 power supply is sampled midway during the intrusion detection output so that a low battery condition can be detected under load conditions.
TEST INPUT, LED DRIVER OUTPUT
Upon the application of power, a power-on reset circuit enables
the intrusion detection circuitry to drive an open drain output so
that the system can be tested by observing an LED connected to
the output. After a time determined by an external R-C network at
the test input, the LED driver output is disabled.
