Echotel® Model 352
Ultrasonic Non-Contact
Two-Wire I.S. Transmitter
D E S C R I P T I O N
Echotel Model 352 non-contact two-wire level transmitters
utilize proven ultrasonic technology and sophisticated
electronics to measure the level of liquid applications.
The non-contact transducer is mounted integrally and is
available in CPVC or 316 stainless steel. This two-wire
device operates on 24 VDC and provides a 4–20 mA
output. All parameters are entered by means of a series
of six rotary switches and three dip switches housed
within the unit.

Vmax = 30 V
Imax = 125 mA or 250 mA
Ci = 0 µF
Li = 0 µH
The voltage (Vmax) and current (Imax), which the transmitter can
receive, must be equal to or greater than the maximum open circuit
voltage (Voc) and the maximum short circuit current (Isc) which can
be delivered by the source device. In addition, the maximum capacitance (Ci) and inductance (Li) of the load, and the capacitance and
inductance of the interconnecting wiring, must be equal to or less
than the capacitance (Ca) or the inductance (La) which can be driven
by the source device.

The Model 352 is a two-wire, loop-powered, intrinsically-safe level control utilizing proven non-contact
ultrasonic technology. Pulses generated by the microprocessor-based electronics are directed to the level
surface via the sensor. The returning echo signal is
detected by the sensor. The microprocessor amplifies
and converts the signal into a digital representation of
the distance from the reflecting surface. A 4-20 mA
output is provided and is continuous over the entire
span. The unit also has the capability of being operated as a single point switch with the span setting
being the actuation point. A self-test feature is standard
and will verify the performance of the transducer and
the amplifier in the event the unit has echo loss for a
short period of time. The unit meets intrinsically safe
entity requirements with the use of an approved I.S.
safety barrier.
