New product developed;
Low-profile (height 0.6 mm), lightweight, low-current-consumption 1612 size TCXO ,
for smartphones and tablet computers
Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd. (NDK) has developed a new temperature-compensated crystal
oscillator (TCXO) which has the features of being compact and low-profile (the world's smallest
in size), lightweight, low-current-consumption (model No.:NT1612SA , size: 1.65 × 1.25 × 0.6
mm, weight: 0.005 g , current consumption: Max. 1.5 mA/26 MHz).
The target of this TCXO is mobile communication terminals such as smartphones and tablet
computers required to be lighter and thinner, in which the electronic parts and devices are
required to have lower profiles, lightweight construction and lower current consumption as well
as higher levels of performance and multi-functionality.
To meet the needs, NDK has used its proprietary structure design and temperature control
technologies, leveraging the highly stable frequency temperature characteristics and the easily
downsizable nature of TCXO, and successfully developed this smaller, thinner and lighter
product while maintaining the original level of performance (frequency temperature
characteristic: Max. ± 0.5 × 10-6) of the existing product (2016 size).
The new TCXO will especially help to provide reliable GPS reference signals for even thinner
and lighter mobile communication terminals and also work with lower supply voltage (+1.8 V)
and lower current consumption (Max. 1.5 mA), which will reduce the battery load of mobile
communication terminals.
NT1612SA is covering a frequency range from 19.2 to 52 MHz, and is available with four
standard frequency levels (19.2, 26, 38.4 and 52 MHz) so that samples can be promptly tested
by customers.
Sample delivery is scheduled for October 2013, and the start of mass production is scheduled
for January 2014.
Note; NDK will showcase the new product at the CEATEC Japan 2013 event, held from
