MODULE FAMILYTM
The fastest growing segment of the mobile device market is WCDMA. The TRITON PA ModuleTM
family is TriQuint’s first standard amplifier product-line that covers all major 3GPP WCDMA
bands. Co-developed for a leading 3G chipset solution, the TRITON PAMs are also capable
of multi-mode operation for next-generation global smartphones, “infotainment” and data
devices, satisfying requirements for HSPA+, LTE and CDMA EV-DO revA air interfaces.
TriQuint has combined two of its unique industry-leading technologies to differentiate
the TRITON PAM family in the marketplace, BiHEMT and CuFlip®. These technologies,
coupled with state-of-the-art design, enable world-class talk-time and thermal
performance, critical for data-rich miniature mobile devices. BiHEMT technology
allows the processing of both pHEMT and HBT devices, usually
two independent fabrication processes, to occur on the same
GaAs wafer.
This enables optimal circuit performance by
eliminating die-to-die interaction and reducing the
number of die for low cost and small size. CuFlip®
technology is the world’s most advanced
assembly
process,
using
copper
pillars instead of epoxy and wire

4G – LTE
TriQuint’s CDMA product portfolio, including the highly-integrated
TRITIUM PA-Duplexer ModuleTM and TRITON PA ModuleTM families,
offers customers high performance in the smallest form factors.
2010 will see the launch of our 4G LTE duplexer, Tx filter and PA for the
USA upper 700 MHz spectrum in band 13 and a new range of filters
and duplexers for CDMA450.

REVOLUTION CONTINUES
Highly-integrated modules are established as the preferred radio front-end architecture in mobile
phones, spanning all sectors from ultra low cost in emerging markets, to the most sophisticated
smartphones. New markets in data-centric devices such as data cards for laptops and netbooks,
are seeing further evolution of a whole new genre of “infotainment” appliances such as e-book
readers, MIDs, gaming and navigation devices.
Consumers’ insatiable demand for “always-on” wireless connectivity and the demands of a
diverse global spectrum of frequency bands are driving convergence of the RF front-end into a
sophisticated and compact set of modules that supports multiple modes in multiple bands.
Innovation at TriQuint is relentless in both process and design. Our in-house process
technologies, CuFlipTM flip-chip interconnect and GaAs BiHEMT, are enabling our
next-generation TRIUMF ModuleTM convergence architecture. TriQuint Unified
Mobile Front-end (TRIUMF) supports protocols up to 4G in data-centric
mobile devices that also offer traditional voice communication.

• Size – A single converged PA module coupled
with antenna switching, mode / band switch and
duplexers reduces front-end board area.
• Battery Life – Electrical interfaces are optimized for
maximum efficiency within the controlled environment
of the modules in the TRIUMF architecture.
