GigE vision
The XCG-H280E and XCG-H280CR incorporate the GigE Vision® interface
standard, based on Gigabit Ethernet technology. In response to the
growing demand for large-scale systems, this interface enables the
camera to transfer a large amount of data over long distances. The use
of an Ethernet cable and the availability of a wide variety of peripheral
devices contribute to significant cost-cutting benefits when designing a
complete vision system.
By utilizing the features and benefits of the GigE Vision, the XCG-H280
series cameras are ideally suited to the demanding requirements of ITS
(Intelligent Transportation Systems) and machine-vision applications.

The XCG-5005CR and XCG-U100CR cameras incorporate the GigE Vision®
interface, which is specifically standardized for machine-vision
applications based on Gigabit Ethernet technology. In accordance with
the growing demand for large-scale systems, this interface enables the
cameras to transfer a large amount of data over long distances. These
cameras use a CCD with a color mask (commonly called a “Bayer filter”)
and output the “raw color” pixel values in 8, 10 or 12 bit to be converted
to a color image on a computer. The color conversion that takes place in
the computer is supported by Sony’s XCG-Software (sold separately) and
a variety of commercially available third-party software programs.
By utilizing the features and benefits of the GigE Vision interface, the
XCG-5005CR and the XCG-U100CR cameras expand the possibilities for
intelligent traffic, factory automation, food and beverage inspection, and
pharmaceutical applications.

The sensor supports single (1) channel and dual (2) channel and
quad (4) channel readout for high speed acquisition.
1tap output or 2tap output can be selected, regardless of the
camera settings.
Lowering the output clock frequency improves the tolerance
to video signal attenuation, which allows the camera link cable
length to be extended. The output of sensor tap4 is only available
for the selection of camera link tap2.

Image Comparison at near-infrared domains
■ The feature of the camera with sensitivity in near-infrared domains
The one which is diffi cult to be seen in the visible wavelength becomes able to be seen by changing a light source. For example, if using
the camera which has sensitivity of the infrared wavelength, in the machine vision, you can see the inside of the substrate. Also in case
of using security, you can see a thing under the night-vision.

■ 1/4-type Super HAD CCD II Image Sensor
Thanks to high-performance Super HAD CCD II image sensors,
the FCB-EX2400, FCB-EX2400P, FCB-EX2200, and FCB-EX2200P
achieve excellent sensitivity at as low as 0.4 lx* minimum
illumination, and the FCB-EX2700 and FCB-EX2700P at 0.6 lx.*
This sensor allows high-quality images to be captured even in
dark environments. Furthermore, it delivers an excellent
horizontal resolution of 670 TV lines, enabling detail to be
captured in scenes.
* IRE 50%, AGC ON.
■ Powerful 40x Optical Zoom Lens: FCB-EX2700, FCB-EX2700P
■ 12x Digital Zoom
■ Progressive Scan Broadens Capabilities
In Progressive Scan mode, the video signal is processed by
progressive scan to achieve clear images without any flicker
effect. Since network cameras typically have backend systems
based on progressive scan, the original picture quality can be
maintained without requiring conversion from interlace scan to
progressive scan.
■ Higher resolution: 670 TV lines
■ High-quality Digital Output
The camera is equipped with a digital interface (Y/Cb/Cr
4:2:2) which is comparable to ITU-R BT656. Using this digital
interface, the quality of the camera’s video signal does not
deteriorate. In addition, there is no need for an external analog/
digital converter between the camera and any other equipment.
■ Image Stabilization/StableZoom:
FCB-EX2700, FCB-EX2700P, FCB-EX2400, FCB-EX2400P
■ Wide-D
The Wide Dynamic Range (Wide-D) feature allows for the
capture of clear images in extreme lighting conditions.
■ Visibility Enhancer (VE)
Depending on the imaging scene, the Visibility Enhancer
function makes the darker part of a camera image brighter, and
automatically correct brightness and contrast to show bright
parts clearly.
■ Defog
The Defog function helps to improve visibility in low-contrast
environments such as foggy or smoky scenes. This feature
enhances and optimizes contrast in this type of situation.
■ Noise Reduction (3D + 2D)
By combining 2D and 3D noise reduction, the camera offers a
wide selection of noise-reduction settings, from Level 1 to Level
5, to allow you to choose the ideal level for different shooting
conditions.
■ Spherical Privacy Zone Masking with Mosaic Effect.

■ Motion Detection
This function instructs the camera to detect movement within the
monitoring area and then send an alarm signal automatically.
The Detect signal goes out through the serial command (VISCA)
communication line.
• The range detection frame can be set for 16 (horizontal) x 8 (vertical)
blocks.
• A quadrangular frame is set by specifying horizontal and vertical star
positions and end positions. Up to 4 frames can be set.

■ Defog
When the surrounding area of the subject is foggy and low contrast,
the defog mode will eliminate the fog and make the subject appear
clearer. The effect level can be automatically adjusted according to
the fog density.

■ Color Enhancement
A captured color image is converted to 256 levels of gray, and you can
set a color to all levels brighter than the threshold value, and another
color to all levels darker than the threshold value.
■ Temperature readout
The camera unit’s internal temperature can be read out via VISCA.
This data can be used as reference data to activate peripherals such
as a fan or heater inside the camera equipment.
