QUICKON Power Distribution IP68 Quick, compact, rugged ! QUICKON Power Distribution is an installation program suitable for industrial applications with touch-protected IDC fast connection technology for 4 x 2.5 mm2 / 690 V and 20 A from Phoenix Contact. It includes all essential components for power distribution in machines, systems and buildings distributed across a large area. The option of permanent and pluggable QUICKON connections, in conjunction with the quick and reliable on-site installation, offer considerable saving potential in large systems. The four QUICKON connections are connected to each other internally such that it can be used as an H-distributor with one continuous master cable and two cable branches, or as a star distributor with one infeed line and three cable outlets. Assembling the QUICKON connection QUICKON fast connection The QUICKON fast connection is based on the insulation displacement connection technology and was specially designed for applications where round cables are to be efficiently connected. The connection can be disconnected again, and the components can be used more than once. With this connection system, a multi-position cable can be quickly connected. The fast connection method automatically creates the contact and strain relief when tightened. Thanks to the quick and easy handling of the QUICKON connection method, the connection time is reduced by up to 80%. Special grommets prevent the penetration of dust and water (IP65 / IP68). 2 1. Strip the cable 2. Insert the wires into the QUICKON nut and snap them into the marked (1, 2, 3…) wire leads. Slip-on connection 2 Connectors This connector, with a capacitive PE contact, is predestined for a quick device replacement when servicing or when installing pre-assembled conductors. It is polarized against incorrect plugging and is touch-proof as per DIN EN 0105. Similar to all QUICKON components, the QUICKON connector is compact, rugged and can be quickly connected. The green screw locking is an operating element which has a contrasting color. The main advantages are: • Considerable time savings for local connections since there is no need to strip the cable wires • Simple assembly without special tools • High reliability thanks to proven connection contacts • Rugged housing with up to IP68 protection 3 Screw it on properly Reconnecting Additional bridging The correct setting for the QUICKON nuts is marked on the connection with the markings I, II and III. In the case of thin conductors, the cable clamp type cage must close more for the conductor strain relief to become effective. QUICKON nuts must therefore be tightened more for thin conductors as compared to the thick ones. The QUICKON connection can be re-wired up to 10 times for the same conductor cross-section. If re-wired, the conductor must be cut off and the connection must be completely re-established. In order to remove the conductor, the nut is unscrewed completely and the splice body is removed from the connection with a commercially available Philips screwdriver (blade width: 3-4 mm). A conductor exit can also be used for bridging functions by simply cross-wiring a core. Quick testing Simple assembly The QUICKON H-distributor has four conductor connections. Since only three connections are allocated, one conductor output is available for testing during commissioning or servicing. The QPD-CLIP 2,5 BK mounting clip is available to simplify the mounting of the QUICKON H-distributor. The H-distributor is simply snapped on after the clip has been assembled and can then be removed again without using tools by pressing the positive latches together. 4 Push-in connection 3 Cable connectors 3. Place the union nut on the contact carrier and tighten with the necessary torque (5 Nm). QUICKON cable connectors can be used for cable extensions or repairs. Both connections are coded against plugging in incorrectly and polarized against polarity reversal. Touch-proof protection on both sides in accordance with DIN EN 0105 means application safety in harsh environments. In combination with the QUICKON connector, you have a typical coupling connection available for a flexible use. The cable connector will be available from stock starting from the 4th quarter of 2008. 4 Panel feed-throughs Panel feed-throughs are cable glands that can be connected from the outside. When they are used, devices no longer have to be opened to connect the cables. For internal wiring, we offer you pre-assembled single conductors in lengths of 0.5 m and 1 m and a connection for slip-on contacts (4.8 x 0.8 mm). We also provide other conductor variants for flexible use on request. The panel feed-through with push-in connection will be available starting from the 4th quarter of 2008.
