VPC’s VTAC High Speed Data (HSD) connectors allow engineers
in multiple industries to test devices that communicate at greater
speeds and require higher data rates. The VTAC HSD insert
features a data transfer rate of 12.5+ Gbps per differential
pair. Each VTAC HSD 50 µ" gold-plated, self-aligning contact
has been tested and verified to 10,000 cycles without
signal degradation.

SPECIFICATIONS
VTAC HSD precision-welded inserts reduce resistance
and increase signal integrity with a seamless transition
from wire to connector. Signal degradation is inherent
in all digital circuits, therefore our engineers designed a
solution that would minimize degradation.
Although there are many factors that influence signal
integrity, insertion loss was a concern during testing.
Insertion loss is a loss in signal that originates from energy
loss, impedance mismatches, and subsequent signal
reflections. As the rise and fall times of a square waveform
begin to vary, they can degrade the signal. If the connector
creates impedance mismatch, the signal risks being
reflected back unto itself creating a loss of signal.
The figure below shows the insertion loss of a one meter
long cable with a small form-factor pluggable (SFP+)
as a point of reference and a second cable with a SFP+
terminated with VTAC HSD inserts in its center. The VTAC
HSD shows no significant deviation from the SFP+ signal
until approximately 6.25 GHz. The industry benchmark for
insertion loss is -3dB, or approximately 50% signal loss.
At 6.25 GHz, there is only -1dB of difference between
the SFP+ and the SFP+ terminated with the VTAC HSD
in its center. This equates to approximately a 10% loss
compared to the SFP+ only. These results were consistent
for 10,000 cycles.

The VTAC HSD right angle inserts are ideal for
a variety of applications that require a wireless
solution for your project. Choosing VTAC HSD
will help to consolidate connections for rapid
integration and connection to instrumentation.
You can choose to use the VTAC HSD right angle
as a complete wireless PCB (direct to instrument
card) or with PCB adapters.
The new VTAC HSD right angle inserts are also
ideal for Pull-Thru applications. While VPC’s PullThru adapters can accommodate both wired and
PCB options, now you can connect directly to your
instrumentation with speeds of 10+ Gbps.

data (HSD) transfer. We also offer a VTAC
QuadraPaddle insert for signal or lower speed
applications. You can outfit an i2 MX, and VTAC
90 Series with both low and high speed module
inserts, giving you increased scalability and
