Magnetic Permeability is the degree of magnetization a material obtains in response to an applied magnetic field.
The more conductive a material is to a magnetic field, the higher the permeability. As comparison, the magnetic
permeability of air is essentially 1 with a µ value of 1.0000037 with steel having a µ value near 100.
