PCN Type: Notice of product discontinuance requiring either a Last Time Buy or migration to an alternative product. Product(s) Affected: All VI Brick BCMs, PRMs and VTMs with part numbers beginning with BC, VT, PR, MT, MC and MR will be discontinued with the following exceptions: • MF028AMFPT • PR045A480x040FP • PR036A480x012FP Please see the complete list of models at the end of this document Proposed Changes: VI Brick PRMs, VTMs and BCMs will be discontinued, with the above noted exceptions. Although not drop-in replacements, functionally and electrically equivalent alternative products are available. Customer Impact: Option 1: Customers may place last time buy orders beginning May 1, 2014 up through December 31, 2014. Final shipments must be accepted by June 30, 2015. Option 2: Equivalent functionality can be achieved with VI Chip BCMs, PRMs and VTMs. This would require a relayout of the customer PCB as this is not a drop in solution. Field Applications Engineers in your region can assist with transitioning your designs. Option 3: Approximate functionality can be achieved with Micro or Mini DC-DC converters. Reliability/qualification summary Substitute products have been fully qualified per Vicor’s strict quality procedures. They have been available for volume production for over 5 years.
