PCN 100115

Product Notice
Notice: #100115
Date: January 15, 2010
To Our Valued Customers:
We appreciate your use of V•I Chip products. Our commitment to customer satisfaction is
demonstrated by our notification to you of a change to the push pin assembly recommendation.
Description:
Previously, V•I Chip recommended a hole size for push pins of 2.95 ± 0.07 mm or
0.116 ± 0.003 in. Our testing has indicated that at the lower end of the push pin hole size
tolerance the installation force can be higher than desired. In light of this testing, we are now
recommending a new push pin hole size of 3.10 ± 0.07 mm or 0.122 ± 0.003 in. We performed
HALT testing at the new larger hole size and had no failures or performance loss. For
installation of push pins, please refer to the heat sink assembly drawing.
Products Affected:
Push Pins for Full and Double V•I Chip: 32434, 32435, 32436 and 32437
Push Pins for Half V•I Chip: 33622, 33623, 33624 and 33625
Datecodes:
Effective immediately.
Datasheets will be updated to reflect this change in a phased process beginning immediately
and concluding on February 19, 2010.
Action Required:
Customers may care to review current assembly processes to determine if any adjustment in
PCB hole diameter is merited.
