1.0A Line Driver
DESCRIPTION
FEATURES




The PT4431 is a power line driver designed to drive
the output current, up to 1A, into an isolation
transformer or simple coil coupling to the loads.
Its input is a single-supply operational amplifier with
specifications at 6V to 24V can be configured as a
unity gain buffer or a 4-pole low pass filter.
For precaution, this device provides one thermal
shutdown flag to indicate if the internal junction
temperature has exceeded 160 ℃ .Its Maximum
current limit can be set by a single resistor, i.e.
R_Limit.

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
Maximum Current Limit
The output stage current is mirrored and detected internally to compare with the current limit value set by the resistor
over R_Limit (pin 14). If the output stage current exceed the set current limit, a feedback signal will be sent to adjust
the output stage bias voltage stay below the set current limit value. The relationship between R_Limit and current limit
is shown below
.
Thermal Shutdown
When the internal junction temperature approximates 160℃, the PT4431 will shift into shutdown mode to prevent
damage. Meanwhile, flag signal over TSD (pin 17) will go into logic high state.
When its temperature cools down to approximately 115℃, the PT4431 will shift back into its normal operation mode and
the TSD flag signal will go down logic low state. The temperature of hysteresis window is about 45℃.
Low voltage protection
A comparator is placed over PT4431 to compare the resistor-divided power supply voltage over LowV (pin 18) with the
internal-generated bandgap voltage.
When the voltage over LowV is higher than the bandgap (about 1.21V) voltage, TLPA05 will stay in normal operation.
When the voltage over LowV is lower than the bandgap voltage, OpAmp A and OpAmp B will be shut down to prevent
any improper operation.
