Objective
• The purpose of the En Route Trials is to assess the requirements, architecture,
interfaces, and message loadability with in-flight aircraft using the “as-built” Lockheed
Martin prototype in the conduct.
• This effort will enable route loadability testing with DCIT partners in operational En Route
airspace with minimal impact to controller and flight deck operations.
• Route Messaging available in prototype for testing

ZKC Meeting
• Met with ZKC
• Briefed ZKC Mgmt Team on En Route Trials Plan
• Collected PDARs and Sector Maps
• Observed live operations on midnight shift (2 pushes 10:30pm and 3am) and collected
times in sector, city pairs, and targets of opportunity data
• Significant flights west to east as well as east to west
• Collected strips for large number of flights

WJHTC Meeting
• Teams identified
– Three NATCA representatives identified by Chad Geyer
– Additional support from Matt Maki and Steve Ferra (connection to Use Cases)
• Meeting with FAA and LM
• Determined that we can use the Lockheed “VTL Display lab” for the “home base”
• Provides optimal connection for the prototype with communication needed to the FAA
Global 5000 and telecom phone
• FAA Global 5000 pilots very engaged – will provide the coordination with the ZDC and
will file the flight plans that we work out for Increment 2 and 3
• Met with WJHTC and FAA Global 5000 pilots Jun 2
– Briefed En Route Trials Plan
– Discussed schedules and more details plans for performing tests

UPS Meeting
• Met with UPS June 3
– Briefed En Route Trials Plan
– Discussed potential flights that could be used for Trials for testing
– Looked at flight plans and discussed approaches
– Discussed potential flights that could be used for Trials. It appears that UPS can
potentially support 4 flights a week with one of their routes (west to east then west to
east pushes)
– Also looking at other flights as well
