Data Communications Program MEM/EWR ATCT DCL Trials DCIT23 Update To: DCIT23 Plenary From: Matt Maki Date: 05.09.2013 Federal Aviation Administration Agenda • MEM Operational Trials Status/Results • Patch 4 Requirements / Delivery • EWR Trials Schedule/Activities • DTAP Build 7 Requirements / Delivery Options Federal Aviation Administration 2 MEM Trials Current Status • Limited Ops Underway: - • Full 24x7 Trial ops expected past Patch 4 delivery (mid-June): - • SAT executed on April 16 (Trials PO, MEM and FDX Mgt signees) 35 to 50 DCL ops ‘shakeout’ period (20 MD-11, 15 B777 ops minimums) 22 (19 MD-11, 3 B777) successful CAF DCL issued since April 17 start 22 CAF, 3 UM79 REVS Issued UM79 Revisions stopped after May 3 Op – Flight Deck FMS Map draw disconnects being investigated – CAF, UM80 (Initial, Revised) Approved Start dependent on Patch 4 deployment, Limited Ops success (20 MD11, 15 B777 DCL OPS) FAA-FDX Mgt Demo planned ahead of full Trials start ZME HADDS connection Test NCP extension approved at May 2 CCB Federal Aviation Administration 3 Updated DTAP Patch 4 Delivery Plan • DTAP Patch 4 PTR Baseline Contents: - Mid-June delivery estimate Current PTRs 122, 145, 146, 152, 153, 158, 159, 160, 161 (late adder) fixes included Government review of SSS Formal FAT planned before Government acceptance of Patch Will be installed on WJHTC, Training, MEM and EWR DTAPs Every 2 day DTAP resets continue until Patch 4 deployed (PTR 152) *** 24x7 ops currently limited until Patch 4 deployed UNLESS decision to separate PTR 152 (index #) and PTR 161 (lat/long format) should be deployed as a separate Patch earlier Federal Aviation Administration 4 EWR Trials Current Status • Pre-SAT Functional Testing completed @ EWR: - • WJHTC and airline participation (Lab, UAL, UPS, BAW) Daily 4pm test summary review conducted Formal SAT completed Wed, May 1: - • UPS/UAL aircraft participated at EWR Pre-cursor to start of Limited Ops Trials ATC support and airline DCL ops schedule synch required for Trial Ops DTAP Certified for Operational Use: - • 4 New PTR’s Identified, 3 being fixed by Thales immediately Limited to Ray Adams / Ray Martinez Controller Workforce upon completion and testing of software patch DTAP ATC and Tech Ops Training complete 4/19: - All but 2 ATC staff received training 6 EWR Tech Ops techs trained and credentialed Federal Aviation Administration 5 DTAP Build 7 Requirements • DTAP Build 7 Formal Requirement Development: - • Final Baseline B7 requirement documentation complete 19 Requirements identified B7 Requirements Transfer to Production/TDLS (May 15) Thales to Scope B7 Requirements for Scope, Schedule Cost: - FAA options to select specific functionality based on schedule/cost considerations Required EWR ATC functionality a priority (Adaptable/local Remarks, Dual Contact) Delivery to FAA TBD Federal Aviation Administration 6 Updated DTAP Patch/Build 7 Delivery Options • Option 1: Patch 5 to deliver early EWR Build 7 Requirements: - • Dual Contact / Drop Down Remark functionality Give EWR required B7 functionality ahead of full Build 7 deployment Delivery ahead of Aug 1 – Sept 15 installation moratorium at EWR Option 2: Full Build 7 Deployment: - Delivery estimates TBD (post EWR moratorium) Full requirement suite including EWR Dual Contact/Drop down remarks, Climb Via, Automode, etc. (19 Req total) Federal Aviation Administration 7 Questions ?
