1 Description of Functional Limitation
If Port Input Enable Register of port P03_0 is activated (PIER03:0 = ‘1’) and CMOS input
levels are selected (PILR03:0=’0’ or EPILR03:0=’1’) and High level is driven on the port, it
activates one of the test modes of the MCU. This test mode activates the PLL, Clock
modulator, RC oscillator and Sub oscillator and sets the voltage regulator to 1.9V when the
“High Power Mode” is used.
2 Conditions of Functional Limitation
Functional Limitation occurs if all of the following conditions are used:

Port Input Enable Register of P03_0 (PIER03:0) is set to 1.

CMOS (0307) input levels are selected for P03_0 (PILR03:0=’0’ or EPILR03:0=’1’).

High level is input on P03_0.

4 Detailed explanation
4.1
Wrong Behaviour
When Port Input Enable Register of P03_0 is activated (set to 1) and CMOS input levels are
selected (PILR03:0=’0’ or EPILR03:0=’1’) and High level is driven on the port, it activates
one of the test modes of the MCU. This has the following effects:

The RC oscillator is overruled to “enabled”

The Sub oscillator is overruled to “enabled” (devices with Sub clock)

The PLL is overruled to “enabled”

The clock modulator is overruled to “enabled”

The voltage regulator is overruled to 1.9V (as long as the “High Power Mode” is
used)
Toggling the input value (by inputting Low level / High level at the pin or by toggling the input
enable register bit) also enables/disables this overruling. It may lead to an abnormal
operation of the MCU.
The activation of the oscillators, PLL, CLOMO and the 1.9V mode of the regulator increases
the current consumption of the MCU.

5 Workaround
5.1
Use P03_0 as Output
Use P03_0 for any output functionality (as Port Output P03_0, Reload timer output TOT0_R).
The bit PIER03:0 must be set to ‘0’.
5.2
Select Automotive input levels instead of CMOS input levels for P03_0
Use Automotive input levels instead of CMOS input levels.
Set PILR03:0=’1’ and EPILR03:0=’0’ before activating the input of P03_0 (by setting
PIER03:0=’1’).
