Comparison of MX25V1635F and MX25L16xxE

APPLICATION NOTE
Comparison of MX25V1635F with
MX25L1606E/08E and MX25L1633E/35E
1. Introduction
This application note compares Macronix 16Mb 2.5V/3V Serial NOR Flash MX25V1635F with Macronix
MX25L1606E/08E and MX25L1633E/35E.
Generally, the MX25V1635F is backward compatible with MX25L1606E/08E and MX25L1633E/35E as they
are pin and command compatible with the basic Read/Program/Erase commands. However, MX25V1635F
provides wider voltage range and lower power consumption.
The comparison covers the general features, performance, command codes, and other differences. The
document does not provide detailed information on individual devices, but highlights major differences.
The information in this document is based on the latest datasheets listed in Section "9. Reference". Newer
versions of the datasheets may override the contents of this document.
2. General Features

8. BP bit Block Protection
All of the listed Macronix flash use BP bits to select groups of memory areas for write protection.
The MX25V1635F and MX25L1606E/1633E/1635E have the ability to write protect identical groups of
blocks with the same BP bit settings. All of the regions protected by the MX25L1606E/1633E/1635E can be
protected by the MX25V1635F.
