For broadcasting relayed from outside a TV station, for example, sportscast, Field Pick up Unit (FPU) is used to transmit TV broadcasting signal from Outside Broadcasting Van to relay station. FPU is composed of Control Unit and Head Unit, and these units are connected using a coaxial cable. The maximum length of coaxial cable connecting units is 300 m. Because of the limit of the length of a coaxial cable, sometimes it is difficult to use equipments when broadcasting live. Intermediate Frequency (IF) Optical Link is able to extend the distance between FPU Units up to 1 km. Using IF Optical Link, it will be easy and flexible to use equipments when broadcasting live.
