ENGINEERING CONSIDERATIONS (NOT FOR FIELD REPRESENTATIVE USE):
Products designated USR have been investigated using requirements
contained in UL 1059, the Standard for Terminal Blocks.
Products designated CNR have been investigated using requirements
contained in Canadian Standard CSA C22.2 No. 158, Terminal Blocks.
Conditions of Acceptability –
For use only in (or with) complete equipment where the acceptability of
the combination is determined by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
1.
The insulating bodies are molded of polymeric materials as specified in
the Section General, designated “I-1”. The use of these materials shall be
judged in the end use application. The maximum operating temperature shall
not exceed 105°C.
2.
The field
evaluated using
Aluminum and/or
terminals shall
wiring terminals of this terminal block have been
the Standard for Equipment Wiring Terminals For Use With
Copper Conductors, UL 486E. The suitability of these
be determined in the end-use investigation.
3.
An additional Conditioning-Temperature-Dielectric Sequence (until
stabilized temperatures) was conducted with the device PDL 4/TR/DU/PE O TNHE
in combination with the for this manufacturer recognized fuseholder Siha 3/G20
with a Current of 9 A and 16AWG solid and stranded wire. The temperature rise
did not exceed 30 °C in all cases.
4.
The terminal block short-circuit ratings on Cat. Nos. PDU 2.5/4, PDU
2.5/4 4AN, PDU 2.5/4 3AN, PDU 6/10, PDU 6/10 3AN and PDU 16 were determined
based on testing in a minimum size enclosure measuring 16 x 12 x 6 inches. The
suitability of smaller enclosures shall be determined in the end-use
investigation.
5.
The terminal blocks of type PTR 2.5/4.. and type PDL 4/..are intended
for disconnecting use only. These devices shall not interrupt the flow of
current under load.

MARKING:
See Section General.
Short-circuit current ratings may be marked on the terminal block or on
instructions provided with the terminal block.
For Terminal Blocks with Short-circuit current ratings:
The minimum enclosure size of 16 x 12 x 6 in. shall be marked on an
information sheet packed within the unit container.
A terminal block with a short circuit rating greater than 10,000 amperes rms
shall be marked similar to below:
“When protected by (1) ampere maximum Class (2) fuse, this terminal block is
rated for use on a circuit capable of delivering no more than (4) rms
symmetrical or dc amperes (5) volts maximum”
where: 1)
Fuse ampere rating
2)
Fuse designation (G, J, L, RK1, RK5, or T)
3)
Short Circuit rating
4)
Circuit voltage
Terminal blocks with disconnect lever intended for disconnecting use shall be
marked “Not for current interrupting” or “For disconnecting use only”or with
an equivalent statement. This marking shall be located on the device, or in or
on the smallest unit container or carton.
