ORC-400 Optiva 4-Port Optical Card ™ (Preliminary) Optiva™ 4-Port Optical Card (Preliminary) The ORC-400 enables the easy addition and/or integration of optical paths onto an existing Optiva™ Daisy-Chain. The ORC-400 can be situated to the immediate left alongside any Optiva™ insert cards and optically transport the daisy-chained video, audio, and/or data signals via the designated optical ports. Port 1 Each insert card comes with a label identifying vital information. System Design Port 2 Each optical port on the ORC-400 will accommodate standard Small Form Pluggable (SFP) lasers approved by Opticomm™ (see “Small Form Pluggables at the end of the section). It must be ensured that the SFP selected will accommodate the bandwidth requirement of the Optiva™ system situated in the Daisy Chain. The data rate must also be within the bandwidth limitability of the system (presently 2.5 Gbps). The top optical port will transmit and receive while the remaining three ports will transmit only. To ensure comprehensive optical redundancy, in the event the signal is lost on the top optical port, the one below automatically becomes a designated receive port. This feature enables up to four redundant paths to run from one node to another or from one node to 4 separate nodes. Optical multicasting can also be implemented using the same multi-path transmission medium. Each receiving location would contain the appropriate Optiva™ receiver to output the video, audio and/or data signals.
