General Description
The HMC305SLP4E is a broadband 5-bit positive
control Silicon IC digital attenuator with CMOS compatible serial-to-parallel driver package in a leadless QFN 4x4 mm SMT package. Covering 0.4 to 6
GHz, the insertion loss is typically less than 1.6 dB.
The attenuator bit values are 0.5 (LSB), 1, 2, 4, and
8 dB for a total attenuation of 15.5 dB. Attenuation
accuracy is excellent at ±0.25 dB typical with an IIP3
of up to +52 dBm. Five bit serial control words are
used to select each attenuation state. A single Vcc
bias of +3.3V to +5V is required.

The circuit board used in the application should
use RF circuit design techniques. Signal lines
should have 50 Ohm impedance while the package ground leads and exposed ground paddle
should be connected directly to the ground plane

bottom ground planes. The evaluation circuit board
as shown is available from Analog Devices Inc.
