PI3C3861-A 2.5V/3.3V, High Bandwidth, Hot-Insertion, 10-Bit, 2-Port, Bus Switch Features Description • • • • • • • • Pericom Semiconductor's PI3C series of logic circuits are produced using the company's advance submicron CMOS technology, achieving industry leading performance. The PI3C3861-A is a 10-bit, 2.5volt or 3.3 volt, 2-port bus switch designed with a low On-Resistance (5-ohm) allowing inputs to be connected directly to outputs. The bus switch creates no additional propagational delay or additional ground bounce noise. The switches are turned ON by the Bus Enable (BE) input signal. This device is very userful in switching signals that have high bandwidth (>400 MHz). Near-Zero propagation delay 5-ohm switches connect inputs to outputs High bandwidth (>400 MHz) Rail-to-rail 2.5V or 3.3V switching 5V I/O Tolerant 2.5V Supply Voltage Operation Permits Hot-Insertion Packaging (Pb-free & Green Available): – 24-pin 150-mil wide plastic QSOP (Q) – 24-pin 173-mil wide plastic TSSOP (L) Applications • High bandwidth data switching • Hot Docking Block Diagram Pin Configuration A0 B0 A9 B9 BE Truth Table(1) 1 24 VCC A0 2 23 BE A1 3 22 B0 A2 4 21 B1 A3 5 20 B2 A4 6 19 B3 A5 7 18 B4 A6 8 17 B5 A7 9 16 B6 A8 10 15 B7 A9 11 14 B8 GND 12 13 B9 Pin Description Function BE A0–9 Disconnect H Hi-Z Connect L B0–9 Pin Name BE A0–9 B0–9 GND VCC Note: 1. For Max. or Min. conditions, use appropriate value specified under Electrical Characteristics for the applicable device type. 2. Typical values are at VCC = 3.3V, TA = 25°C ambient and maximum loading. 3. Measured by the voltage drop between A and B pin at indicated current through the switch. On-Resistance is determined by the lower of the voltages on the two (A,B) pins. Typical values are at VCC = 3.3V, +25°C ambient. 3. Per TTL driven input (control input only); A and B pins do not contribute to ICC. 4. This current applies to the control inputs only and represent the current required to switch internal capacitance at the specified frequency. The A and B inputs generate no significant AC or DC currents as they transition. This parameter is not tested, but is guaranteed by design. Min. Max. Units 0.25 CL = 50pF RL = 500-ohm 1.5 6.5 1.5 5.5 ns Notes: 1. This parameter is guaranteed but not tested on Propagation Delays. 2. The bus switch contributes no propagational delay other than the RC delay of the On-Resistance of the switch and the load capacitance. The time constant for the switch alone is of the order of 0.25ns for 50pF load. Since this time constant is much smaller than the rise/fall times of typical driving signals, it adds very little propagational delay to the system. Propagational delay of the bus switch when used in a system is determined by the driving circuit on the driving side of the switch and its interaction with the load on the driven side.
