The HFF crystal is a high-Q quartz device that enables the circuit to achieve low phase jitter performance over a wide operating temperature range. The oscillator is housed in an industry standard hermetically sealed leadless surface mount package and is available on tape and reel. 10188_VECTRON 05/21/03 3:14 PM Page 2 VC-700 Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator Electrical Performance Parameter Frequency Supply Voltage (+3.3V) (+5.0V) Supply Current Output Logic Levels Output Logic High Output Logic low Output Logic High Output Logic low Minimum fO 77.76 VDD VDD 3.15 4.75 Typical 3.3 5.0 IDD 0/70 ˚C 0/70 ˚C -40/85 ˚C -40/85 ˚C Transition Times Rise Time Fall Time VOH VOL VOH VOL Vcc Vcc Vcc Vcc -1.025 -1.810 -1.085 -1.830 SYM 45 Maximum Units 180 MHz 3.45 5.25 V V <65 mA Vcc Vcc Vcc Vcc tR tF Symmetry or Duty Cycle Operating Temperature Symbol 50 -0.880 -1.620 -1.880 -1.555 V V V V 1 1 ns ns 55 % 0/70 or -40/85 °C Jitter (12 kHz – 20 MHz BW) 0.3 ps (RMS) Jitter (50 kHz – 80 MHz BW) 0.5 ps (RMS) ordering option Test Conditions for APR (+5V option) VC 0.5 4.5 V Test Conditions for APR (+3.3V option) VC 0.3 3.0 V APR ±32 Absolute Pull Range (APR) Notes ppm ±50 Gain Transfer Control Voltage Bandwidth (-3dB) Positive BW 10 Package Size kHz 5.0 x 7.5 x 2.8 Vectron International • 267 Lowell Road, Hudson, NH 03051 • Tel: 1-88-VECTRON-1 • Web: www.vectron.com 2 10188_VECTRON 05/21/03 3:14 PM Page 3 VC-700 Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator Outline Diagram Pad Layout Pin Out Pin 1 2 Symbol Function Vc VCXO Control Voltage Output Disable Enabled = PECL Logic 0 (or Open) Disabled = PECL Logic 1 Case and Electrical Ground Output Complementary Output Power Supply Voltage (3.3V or 5V) N/C or OE 3 4 5 6 GND Output COutput Vcc Tape and Reel (EIA-481-2-A) Tape Dimensions (mm) Dimension Tolerance VC-700 Reel Dimension (mm) W Typ F Typ Do Typ Po Typ P1 Typ A Typ B Min C Typ D Min N Min W1 Typ W2 Max # Per Reel 16 7.5 1.5 4 8 178 1.5 13 20.2 50 16.4 22.4 200 Vectron International • 267 Lowell Road, Hudson, NH 03051 • Tel: 1-88-VECTRON-1 • Web: www.vectron.com 3 10188_VECTRON 05/21/03 3:14 PM Page 4 VC-700 Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator Absolute Maximum Ratings Parameter Symbol Vcc lout VC Power Supply Output Current Voltage Control Range Storage Temperature Soldering Temp/Time TS TLS Ratings 0 to 6 25 0 to Vcc -55 to 125 220/10 Unit V mA V ˚C ˚C/sec Stresses in excess of the absolute maximum ratings can permanently damage the device. Functional operation is not implied at these or any other conditions in excess of conditions represented in the operational sections of this data sheet. Exposure to absolute maximum ratings for extended periods may adversely affect device reliability. Reliability The VC-700 family is capable of meeting the following qualification tests: Environmental Compliance Parameter Mechanical Shock Mechanical Vibration Solderability Gross and Fine Leak Resistance to Solvents Conditions MIL-STD-883, Method MIL-STD-883, Method MIL-STD-883, Method MIL-STD-883, Method MIL-STD-883, Method 2002 2007 2003 1014 2015 Handling Precautions Although ESD protection circuitry has been designed into the VC-700 proper precautions should be taken when handling and mounting. VI employs a human body model and a charged-device model (CDM) for ESD susceptibility testing and design protection evaluation. ESD Ratings Model Human Body Model Charged Device Model Minimum Conditions 500 500 MIL-STD 883, Method 3015 JESD 22-C101 VI qualification includes aging at various extreme temperatures, shock and vibration, temperature cycling, and IR reflow simulation. The conditions a device can withstand are well understood and devices can be subjected to the profile above. This profile shows a ramp up condition to prevent thermal shock, a preheat period in which the flux is activated, a ramp up to 183˚C which is the reflow temperature of Sn/Pb eutectic, and a gradual cool down. The time above 183˚C should not exceed 60 seconds and the peak temperature should be no more than 220˚C for 10 seconds. The VC-700’s are hermetically sealed so an aqueous wash is not an issue.
