PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS Heavy-‐duty RF tracking pedestal. Gear Drive Model P4800 Post Pedestal Ideal for applications such as tracking radars, satellite tracking antennas, communications systems, ELINT antennas, and EW simulators, t he ASC Model P4800 Post Pedestal features dual, geared drives in azimuth and elevation. Drive s ystems are b iased electronically to eliminate mechanical backlash in the gearing. The resulting system provides h igh reliability and a ccurate pointing for RF antennas. Pedestal and control electronics produce wide bandwidth servo p erformance with very low jitter suitable for automatic tracking. The pedestal will support balanced loads of up to 4000 pounds at velocities of 30 d eg/sec. Optional features include slip rings, rotary joints, and custom load support structures. Only tested, field-‐proven components are used in the d esign of this p edestal. Hardware is military-‐temperature rated, and mechanical d esign is rugged. Reliability and long life are the hallmarks of this p edestal. Features • Dual gear drive • Bias eliminates backlash • Precision b earings • Environmentally sealed • 4000-‐pound payload weight • Up to 30 deg/sec velocity 1 SPECIFICATIONS Model P4800 Description Model P480 Applications • Tracking • Instrumentation • Surveillance • Communications • Telemetry • Airborne s ystems • Vechicle systems • Radar s ystems • Acquisition control • Fire • ELINT/SIGINT Options • Slip rings • Boresight scope • Leveling pads (6) • Rotary joints • Risers • Payload platform • Digital control unit • Servo a mplifier • Cone riser ( 66.0 Dia., 6 1.00 in bolts) Dual Drives Each a xis contains dual, opposed drives consisting of DC servo motors opertating through reduction gears. Axes h ave f ailsafe friction brakes and manual drives. By electronically baising t he amplifiers, the drive motors k eep the gear trains constantly in contact, eliminating geartrain b acklash. Position Encoders The position encoder in each a xis is a resolver transmitter driven b y anti-‐ backlash gearing. Optional optical encoders or rotary inductosyns may also b e u sed. Bearings The bearings are large d iameter bull gear b earing with overturning moment capacity of 85,000 ft-‐lbs. This ensures a very high safety margin; yet provides necessary stiffness to meet the specifications of h ighly accurate systems. Seals Teflon lip seals environmentally protect the rotating interfaces of the positioned, effectively d esigned to exclude water, dirt, and dust while producing minimum system friction. Materials The positioned is constructed of the highest quality m aterials, selected to provide maximum corrosion resistance with minimum weight. Typical components include 6061 aluminum alloy for structural material and cadmium p lated 300 s eries CRES fasteners. Axis Travel Phanical stops limit the rotation in each axis. The elevation axis travel is -‐ 10° to +95°, while the azimuth a xis travel is +180° plus over-‐travel. Continuous azimuth travel is available with optional s lip rings. Riser Customer requirements d etermine riser height. Stow Pins Stow pins are mounted on each a xis to lock the a xes in position for storage or transportation. Load Platform (Optional) Custom-‐designed platforms are bolted to the load supports of the elevation a xis. Amplifiers The pedestal can b e controlled with a Model 3200 S ervo Amplifier. 2 SPECIFICATIONS Model P4800 Interfaces Configuration Mechanical Pedestal Type ……………………………….
