Rev. 7−10 Mounting Procedure The NTE6218 package requires special mounting considerations because of the long longitudinal axis of the copper heat sink. It is important to follow the proper tightening sequence to avoid warping the heat sink which can reduce thermal contact between the NTE6218 and the heat sink. Step 1: 2−3 Turns Locate the NTE6218 on the heat sink and start mounting bolts into the threads by hand (2 or 3 turns). 2−3 Turns POWER HEAT Step 2: 2−3 Turns Finger tighten the center bolt. The bolt may catch on the threads of the heat sink so it is important to make sure the face of the bolt or washer is in contact with the surface of the NTE6218. Step 3: TAP SINK Finger−Tight POWER HEAT 1 − 2N.m 2−3 Turns 2−3 Turns TAP SINK Finger−Tight 1 − 2N.m Tighten each of the end bolts between 1 to 2N.m. POWER HEAT Step 4: 1 − 2N.m TAP SINK 0.9 − 1.1N.m 1 − 2N.m Tighten the center bolt between 0.9 to 1.1N.m. Step 5: 4.5N.m POWER TAP HEAT SINK 0.9 − 1.1N.m 4.5N.m Finally, tighten the end bolts to 4.5N.m.
