MB2198-169-E
* : The pseudo power-on debug adapter function is available by connecting the pseudo power-on
debug adapter (option) between the BGA-224P adapter and header board.
The pseudo power-on debug functions to supply the evaluation MCU power of the BGA-224P
adapter through the pseudo power-on debug adapter, and to maintain this state when the user
power is off.
Furthermore, it functions the power-on debug by resetting the evaluation MCU (INITX) at the
time of the user power off, and by releasing the reset when the user power turns on again.
2. Handling Precautions
The adapter unit is precision-manufactured to improve dimensional accuracy and to ensure reliable
contact, and is therefore mechanically weak.
Take the following precautions to ensure that the header board is always used correctly in an appropriate environment.
• Avoid placing any stress on the NQPACK that is mounted on the user system while the adapter
unit is connected.

■ Connecting the DSU Cable
To connect the BGA-224P adapter and DSU cable, follow the instructions in “DSU-FR EMULATOR MB2198-01-E OPERATION MANUAL”.
■ Connecting a Crystal Oscillator
The BGA-224P adapter includes an IC socket for mounting a crystal oscillator. This is provided to
supply the clock to the evaluation MCU.
Figure 3 shows how to mount the crystal oscillator in the IC socket and Figure 4 shows a schematic

■ Mounting the Evaluation MCU
The procedure for mounting an evaluation MCU in the BGA-224P adapter is explained below (see
“Figure 6”).
1. Press down vertically on the top of the IC socket for mounting the evaluation MCU on the BGA224P adapter (the IC hook pops up).
2. Confirm that the IC hook has popped up and then place the evaluation MCU in the socket. Make
sure that you align the index mark (●) on the evaluation MCU with the index mark (●) on the
IC socket.
3. Gently lift up the top of the IC socket for mounting the evaluation MCU and check that the IC
hook is securely holding the evaluation MCU.
