Capable of delivering up to 100,000 IOPS Random Read Speed and 540MB/s Sequential Read Speed, it is an SSD of unrivaled high performance. Even better, the advanced MDX controller delivers these speeds regardless of data type, unlike some competing controllers that greatly favor compressible data. In addition, Magician (from version 4.3) provides 840 PRO users the option to enable RAPID mode (Real-time Accelerated Processing of Input-output Data) – an innovative performance enhancement that processes data on a system level by using free DRAM memory as a cache. Once enabled in Magician, RAPID mode provides an overall PC performance boost. DATA SHEET Rev. 1.3, January, 2014 1 Performance Sustainability Business Friendly Features The Samsung SSD 840 PRO provides the same excellent performance throughout its entire lifetime and under extremely heavy workloads. In fact, the sophisticated MDX controller is capable of maintaining peak performance under punishing conditions for more than twice as long as the nearest competitor. The 840 PRO SSD introduces three important hardware features for businesses: Worldwide Name (WWN), LED Indicator support, and hardware-based AES 256-bit Full Disk Encryption (FDE). The first two of these features make it easier to integrate the 840 PRO SSD into server and storage systems. The third, hardware-based AES Encryption, helps safeguard data against attack by encrypting all information on the disk at the hardware level, which means there is no detrimental effect on performance. Because the encryption key is stored on the drive itself, it is not at risk of interception or outside attack, even if the drive is placed into a new PC. Also, destroying data is as easy as performing a Secure Erase using the Magician software. Finally, Samsung’s Magician software provides informative usage data – including Drive Health Status and Total Bytes Written (TBW) – allowing users to easily monitor drive health and plan hardware replacement cycles.
