Product Brief TLE 6712G 2 Loop Firing IC T h e T L E 6 7 1 2 G is a 2 loop firing IC specially designed for automotive restraint applications. The device, located in the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) of the airbag system, provides two independent actuator channels for firing loops. Each channel is equipped with various diagnostic functions. Communication between the µC and TLE 6712G is performed via SPI and analog/digital interface pins. Applications ■ Automotive Restraint Applications VCC5 Features ■ 2 independent firing loops (each with Highside and Lowside Switch) ■ Extra HW lines (safety lines) to enable firing ■ Firing current detection ■ Multiplexed analog output pin for measurement retrieval ■ Unidirectional Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) up to 4 MHz µC Embedded Protection Functions ■ Current limitation for each firing loop ■ Thermal and short circuit protection for each switch 6 DI 7 CLK 8 CSN 9 RI SeN FeN MO Embedded Diagnostic Functions ■ Squib Resistance Measurement with programmable gain ■ Leakage detection to GND and Battery ■ Measurement of internal and external voltages 4 20 10 VCC5 19 VBoost 16 SPI Block 24 FV12 23 SQh1 Firing Control Block Internal Supply Block Squib Driver 1 MUX Output Block TLE 67 1 2 2 Loop Firing IC Squib Driver 2 Measurement Block GND 18 5 MSR 15 MCA 5 kΩ Squib1 22 SQL1 21 GNDL1 1 SQh2 VS 17 µC Automotive Power VChP 14 BAT 50 Ω www.infineon.com/restraint-system-IC VBAT 2 SQL2 3 GNDL2 Squib2 Product Brief Diagnostic Examples (Resistance & Leakage Measurement) 15 to 33 V VBoost 16 IMCA VBoost 16 CStore SPI Command 6XXXh Saving Sensor IMain = M x IMCA M = 16, 32 or 40 FV12SS SPI Command 4XXXh and 6XXXh IBias = 5 x IMCA high Side ON/OFF OpAmp1 OpAmp1 IMCA MCA 15 RMCA 4-6 kΩ OpAmp high 3/4 x VS Squib GNDLx OpAmp1 MO 5 MSR OpAmp2 RMSR 50 Ω OpAmp1 OpAmp Low MCA 15 RMCA 4-6 kΩ A2 = 2 ILL R LL SQLx Low Side OFF Squib GNDLx Window Comparator with digital and three state output VMO VS/3 10 Saving Sensor RS RSquib ILh = IMCA 2-5 kΩ RSquib SQLx MUX VCC5 SQhx VS RLh ILh OpAmp1 VS/2 Low Side OFF 8V high Side OFF SQhx A1 = 10 or 30 OpAmp3 Saving Sensor S FV12 S ILL = IMCA VS/2 Saving Sensor RS Buckle Switch VBAT CStore 15 to 33 V VBAT VCC5 10 VS MO MSR 5 RMSR 50 Ω 1/4 x VS Product Summary Type Sales Code Description Package TLE 6712G Available upon request 2 Loop Firing IC P-DSO-24-1 System Overview Pedestrian Protection Bonnet Passenger Sensing high Speed CAN Airbag ECU eR VBAT OS VSAT VLogic TLe 6365 Buck Buck Published by Infineon Technologies AG 81726 Munich, Germany © Infineon Technologies AG 2006.
