Part list 1.Overview and features 1. This information presented typical circuit structure using LED driver LV5026MC that has high efficiency, high power factor and TRIAC dimming. 2. LV5026MC is best suitable for LED driver with high power factor and TRIAC dimming. By one converter type PFC structure, the passive PFC circuit and electrolytic capacitor aren’t used at the input block, there is a control function (TRIAC maintenance function) only for TRIAC dimming in inside of IC, cheap and stable driver with a few of parts becomes realizable. 3. LV5026MC operates by fixed frequency control with frequency jitter function which reduces EMI noise. 4. LV5026MC realizes stable dimming operation by means of TRIAC holding-current function. 5. This application of LV5026MC has some protection functions, output (load) open, and load short-circuit detection. Built-in OTP (over temperature protection) function. This application is best suitable to 7W class LED driver. Input voltage range is from AC220 to 240V (198 to 264V). Stable LED dimming operation is realized by standard leading edge type TRIAC dimmer. And, device is protected at abnormal operation such as no load, overload, output short. Explanation of circuit function This application realizes high power factor and high efficiency in one converter by LV5026MC. LV5026MC has oscillator, input voltage detection (OVP and UVLO), reference voltage, TRIAC holding-current (bleeder circuit),over temperature protection (OTP), frequency jitter function (skip frequency) ,Pulse by pulse current limit, auto restart and constant current control. Input block The resistor R1 prevents inrush current when startup and dimming control. Furthermore, it protects external parts and LV5026MC from abnormal operation. EMI filter is constructed of C1, L1, C2 and L2, input pin noise is reduced sharply. In case of high power factor, it uses lower capacitor for C1 and C2. Main control circuit When AC voltage is inputted, VIN capacitor (C9) is charged by R10 (start-up resistor). VIN voltage is 9V or more, and LV5026MC works. Then, VIN voltage is supplied from the auxiliary winding of T1. LV5026MC compares CS voltage and REF-IN voltage, performs switching of Q1. Because the REF-IN voltage is based on the AC voltage, AC voltage and AC current become similar wave pattern and power factor is improved. Auxiliary winding voltage is in proportional to output voltage. Auxiliary winding is set by turn ratio of output winding. Because output voltage (LED voltage) is stable, auxiliary winding voltage is also stable. Dimming drive circuit Resistor R3, R4 detect input voltage, if the voltage of ACS pin is less than 3V, OUT2 output becomes ON, bleeder current flows at the low AC input area and stable operation is ensured as active bleeder. The snubber circuit (D3, R8, R9, and C3) absorbs the surge of AC Voltage and prevents the malfunction of TRIAC dimmer. OVP In case of no load, auxiliary winding voltage increases with the rising of output voltage. If VIN pin of LV5026MC reach to about 27V, over voltage detection begins, switching operation stops, and restarts. Those actions are repeated, as a result prevent rising of voltage. Output rectification and smoothing The output voltage of T1 is rectified by D4, smoothed by capacitor C7. In order to realize high efficiency, D4 is selected high-speed diode. If you need control ripple current to LED, the value of output capacitor can be increased. The resistor R15 discharges the LED voltage at the time of operation stop.
