Cable entries
Weidmüller offers a variety of add-on components for a
multitude of applications; complementing its wide range
of enclosure products.
In addition to cable glands in brass, plastic and stainless
steel, we provide sealing plugs, pressure compensation
elements, adaptors and matching accessories, including
lock nuts, flat gasket seals and earthing rings.

As with the enclosures, the cable glands come in IP
protective classes from IP 54 to IP 69K and can be used
as required in industrial standard applications, EMC
applications or indeed in explosive hazard areas. They have
the appropriate approvals for use in these areas. Ex certified
Klippon® cable glands also allow the connection of braided
and shielded armour with or without a lead sheath, as well
as single wire reinforcement and metal foil armoured cables
and wires. They can be used in temperatures from -60 °C to
+180 °C.

Depending on the connector range and the application
area, the cable glands, sealing plugs, adaptors, pressure
compensation elements and accessories are certified and
manufactured in line with the following standards:
• EN 60423 (metric thread)
• EN 40430 (PG and NPT thread)
• EN 60079-0 (General ATEX regulations)
• EN 60079-1 (Ex d ATEX regulations)
• EN 60079-7 (Ex e ATEX regulations)
• EN 60079-11 (Ex i ATEX regulations)
• EN 50262 (strain relief)
• EN 60529 (IP protection degree)
The range of cable glands, sealing plugs and pressure
compensation elements is available in metric (M) and
highstrength (PG) threads in sizes from M 12 to M 75 and
PG 7 to PG 48. When choosing glands and sealing plugs,
please refer to the table for the sealing characteristics of
the O-rings, flat gaskets and seal inserts. The O-ring or flat
gasket is always used to seal the connecting thread of an
enclosure, while the seal insert for the cable gland actually
seals and clamps the connection cable.

Introduction
You should always observe the maximum drill-hole diameter
when installing a cable gland, sealing plug, adaptor or
pressure compensation element (e.g. onto the gland plate
of an enclosure). These must not exceed the following
specified maximum values / tolerances so that the protection
degree of the whole enclosure can be guaranteed.

Health & Safety
When Weidmüller cable glands and the accessories are used and installed as
prescribed within the data sheet provided, they will not cause any danger or
hazard to the health or safety of persons, animals or property. The products should
be installed by suitably trained/skilled personnel and in full accordance with the
relevant legislative regulations and the accepted code of practice for the industry
concerned.
Warning
Weidmüller cable glands and accessories should not be used within any
application other than those specified for each product, unless Weidmüller issue
a statement in writing that the product is suitable for the specified application.
For further information on each product, we refer you to the specific Assembly
Instructions and General Arrangement drawings, which are available on request.
Weidmueller takes no responsibility for any damage, unjury or other consequential
loss caused where the glands are not installed or used according to our Assembly
Instructions.
Installation in hazardous area applications
If cable glands and accessories are installed in hazardous area applications,
international and national standards of the Explosion Protection have to be
considered.

Klippon® KDSU Cable Glands
The KDSU type glands provide a universal armour clamp for steel wire, steel tape, screened or braided
cables. An electrical bond between the cable armour and the gland is ensured. The gland can also be used to
terminate un-armoured cables. In addition, the gland is fitted with two separate seals to seal the outer and
inner cable insulation.
When choosing the gland with a neoprene sealing a temperature range from -20 °C to +85 °C will be
achieved. Whereas the gland with silicone sealing ensures a temperature range from -60 °C to +180 °C.
With both sealing materials an IP rating of IP 68 to 25 metres (30 min. at 2.5 bar) is maintained. The KDSU
type gland is approved for Flameproof Ex d and Increased Safety Ex e applications.

bond between the cable armour and the gland is ensured. In addition, the gland is fitted with two separate

Klippon® KUB Cable Glands
The KUB gland provide an armour clamp for steel tape, steel wire and braided cables. An electrical bond
between the cable armour and the gland is ensured. The gland can also be used to terminate unarmoured
cables. Additionally, the gland provides a single pull resistant seal on the outer sheath of any cable. After
clamping the cable armour onto the cone, the cable has to be filled with the provided compound to seal the
free spaces between the single conductors.
The gland maintains a temperature range from -60 °C to +85 °C. When filled, the gland fulfills an IP rating of
IP 68 to 100 metres (30 Min. at 10 bar). The KUB gland is only suitable for Ex d applications.

• In the case of Ex d applications, the inner threads used for cable glands must meet the requirements of section 5.3 of EN/IEC 60079-1. In the screwed in position, at least 5 threads must be engaged.
• If the cable glands are installed in non-metallic Ex e connection equipment, these must be connected to the protective earth of the system.
• The connection cable must be laid securely and inflexibly to rule out tensile stress.
