Out-of-Band Networking Datasheet LX Series 1004T Console Servers A Complete Out-of-Band Networking Solution The 1004T Series of console servers gives IT administrators the ability to perform secure remote management of operational and physical infrastructures. LX Series Console Servers provide management access to a wide range of IT infrastructure devices such as UNIX, LINUX and Windows Servers as well as switches, routers, firewalls, and telephony equipment. The 1004T Series features 4 ports of serial connectivity and a number of configuration options to meet a wide range of installation requirements. The 1004T Series uses the proven LX Series software which allows a common set of features to be used consistently across multiple LX Series models. The 1004T Series offers power options for installation utilizing North American and International AC power as well as DC power for telcos and carriers. An optional internal v.92 modem provides dial up connectivity access. The 1004T Series can be used with MRV’s 5250 Power Control Series to provide administrators with the ability to manage, control, and monitor individual power outlets for critical equipment. Using secure management access through the 1004T Series, network managers can remotely power cycle a locked up server, bring a redundant system online or turn on an auxiliary air conditioner. Physical infrastructure control and monitoring can be enabled on each 1004T Series serial port, supporting two sensor inputs or two control outputs per port. Sophisticated Trigger/Action control can be used to customize solutions to meet specific organizational notification and control needs. Applications • Enterprise data centers • Remote/Branch offices • Telco central office and remote facilities • Utilities • Test and development labs Benefits • Cutting Costs- Nearly eliminates the need for personnel to be physically present at remote equipment site • Increasing Security- Protect service ports from unauthorized, undetected access • Lowering Risk- Capture logs as a record of system activity to meet regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA • Improving Service Levels- Easy and efficient remote access utilizes scarce technical resources more effectively, and reduces the need for redundant equipment by minimizing downtime • Simplifying Operations- Verify access using existing security infrastructure • Simplified Event Notification and Response - Automatic response to an emergency increases safety and helps avoid potentially hazardous conditions Industry Leading Security Easy, Powerful Management Tools The LX Series software delivers a set of highly secure features to fit any operating environment and\or industry best practices. Security features include per port password protection, SSH v2.0, SNMP V3, IP V6, IPsec IKE 1\2, RADIUS, SecurID, LDAP, TACACS+, PPP PAP\ CHAP, PPP dial-back, user access lists, and on-board database. This combination of features and standards support allows for secure monitoring and configuration via local LAN or dial-up connection. The 1004T Series has a management option to fit every style. The easy to use browser based Graphical User Interface allows full configuration and management, while the industry standard style extensive Command Line Interface is a powerful tool for automated scripts. MRV’s MegaVision product can be used as a standalone network management and fault management system, or be combined with other management platforms.
