ASM1815 February 2005 rev 1.4 Low Power, 3.3V/3.0V µP Reset Active LOW, Push-Pull Output General Description Applications The ASM1815 is a voltage supervisory device with low-power, • Set-top boxes 3.3V/3.0V µP Reset, active LOW, Push-Pull output. Maximum • Cellular phones supply current over temperature is a low 15µA (at 3.6V). • PDAs • Energy management systems The ASM1815 generates an active LOW reset signal whenever • Embedded control systems the monitored supply is out of tolerance. A precision reference • Printers and comparator circuit monitor power supply (VCC) level. Tolerance level options are 5%, 10% and 20%. When an out-of- • Single board computers tolerance condition is detected, an internal power-fail signal is Typical Operating Circuit generated which forces an active LOW reset signal. After VCC returns to an in-tolerance condition, the reset signal remains VCC active for 150ms to allow the power supply and system microprocessor to stabilize. ASM1815 The ASM1815 is designed with a push-pull output stage and Microprocessor operates over the extended industrial temperature range. Devices are available in TO-92 and compact surface mount RESET RESET SOT-23 packages. GND Other low power products in this family include the ASM1810/ 11/12/16/17, ASM1233D and ASM1233M. It resets a processor during power-up, powermonitored power supply voltage is below the reset threshold. When an out-of-tolerance VCC voltage is detected, the tRPD RESET RESET signal is asserted. On power-up, RESET is kept ~ ~ down and issues a reset to the system processor when the active (LOW) for approximatley 150ms after the power supply voltage has reached the selected tolerance. This allows the power supply and microprocessor to stablize before RESET is released. VOL tR Figure 2: Timing Diagram: Power-Down VCCTP (MAX) VCCTP (MIN) VCCTP Output Conditions The ASM1815 active LOW reset signal is valid as long as VCC remains below 1.2V. The RESET output on the ~ VCC ASM1815 uses a push-pull drive stage that can maintain a tRPU valid output below 1.2V. To sink current with VCC below 1.2V, a resistor can be connected from the reset pin (RESET) to Ground (see Figure 3). This configuration will give a valid VOH ~ RESET value on the RESET output with VCC approaching 0V. During both power up and down, this configuration will draw current when the RESET is in the high state. A value of 100kΩ Figure 1: Timing Diagram: Power-Up should be adequate to maintain a valid connection.
