Vortex Gearbox™ AVSP-1104 10:4 Gearbox 100G Ethernet/OTN PHY IC for Backplane, Portside and Cable Product Brief Introduction The first product of Avago's Vortex GearboxTM family, the AVSP-1104 offers data center, enterprise and OTN switch and router manufacturers the longest reach solution for both backplane and portside applications. A 100G Ethernet PHY IC, the device features Avago's proven 28 nm CMOS SerDes technology, including Avago's unique Decision Feedback Equalization (DFE) architecture, providing low overall power consumption, low data latency, and best-in-class jitter and crosstalk performance. To integrate hundreds of high-speed SerDes channels in a single ASIC, Avago has maintained a focus on minimizing power while increasing data rates. Hence, the AVSP-1104 enables power-efficient 100G optical modules to increase connection speeds from 10 Gbps to 100 Gbps for high performance and high bandwidth switching, routing and blade server applications. All SerDes within the AVSP-1104 operate at any frequency (hole-free): four from 1 Gbps to 28 Gbps, and ten from 1 Gbps to 15 Gbps. The latter perform full duplex conversion of ten lanes at 10/11 Gbps to four lanes of 25/28 Gbps. An additional six 15G transceivers can be accessed to use the AVSP-1104 in a 10:10 full duplex retimer mode.
