Bay Linear Inspire the Linear Power B4250 250 mA CMOS Low Dropout LDO Description Features The B4250 series are a group of positive output voltage, three-pin regulators, which provide a high current even when the input/output voltage differential is small. Low power consumption and high accuracy is achieved though CMOS and programmable fuse technologies. Output voltage: 2.0V to 6.0V in 0.1V increments. • • • • The B4250 consists of a high-precision voltage reference, an error correction circuit, and a current limited output driver. Available in SOT-23 (150mW) and SOT-89 (500mW) packages minimizing the usage of board real state. • Applications • • • • Pin Connection Maximum output current: 250 mA. Highly accurate: Output voltage +/- 2%. (1%) CMOS low power consumption. Small input/output differential: 0.38V at 160mA (Vout=3.3V) 0.12V at 100mA (Vout=5V) Pin-to-Pin Improve XC62FP/XC6201 Battery Powered Equipment Notebook PC, Palmtops, PDA Portable Cameras and Video Recorders Reference Voltage Sources Ordering Information -40°°C to +125°°C SOT-23-3 (K3) SOT-89 (R) Vin Part No. SOT-23 B4250CK3 -X.X SOT-89 B4250CR-X.X X.X = Fixed Output Voltages from 2.0V to 6.0V Vin 3 2 1 Vss Package 2 1 Vout Top View Bay Linear, Inc Vss 2 3 Vin Vout Top View 2418 Armstrong Street, Livermore, CA 94550 Tel: (925) 606-5950, Fax: (925) 940-9556 www.baylinear.com B4250 Absolute Maximum Ratings Parameter Input Voltage Output Current Output Voltage Continual Total Power Dissipation Operating Ambient Temperature Storage Temperature Symbol VIN IOUT VOUT SOT-23 SOT-89 Pd TOPR TSTG Ratings 12 500 VSS -0.3 to VIN 0.3 150 500 -30 to 80 -40 to 125 Units V mA V mW °C °C Electrical Characteristics (Ta = 25°°C, VIN = VOUT + 1V; unless otherwise noted) Parameter Output Voltage Line Regulation ∆VOUT/∆VIN-VOUT Load Regulation Current Consumption Dropout Voltage 3.3V 5.0V 3.3V 5.0V 3.3V 5.0V 3.3V 5.0V 3.3V 5.0V Conditions IO = 40mA, VIN = 4.3V IO = 40mA, VIN = 6.0V IO = 40mA, 4.3V<VIN<10V IO = 40mA, 6.0V<VIN<10V VIN 4.3V, 1mA < IO < 80mA VIN 6V, 1mA < IO < 100mA VIN = 4.3V VIN = 6.0V IO = 160 mA IO = 100 mA 200 mA MIN 3.234 4.900 TYP 3.300 5.000 MAX 3.366 5.100 UNIT 0.2 0.3 %V 45 40 1.0 2.0 0.4 0.12 0.38 90 80 2.9 4.5 0.7 0.3 0.6 V mV µA V Marking Format SOT-23 SOT-89 B4250 XZYWW CXWW C = B4250 Variables X = Voltage Codes B = 2.0 F= 3.3 C = 2.5 G= 3.5 D = 2.8 H= 5.0 E = 3.0 Bay Linear, Inc Z = Production Code Y = Year WW = Work Week Code 01 = 2001 02 = 2002 03 = 2004 etc SOT-23 = 01 to 99 SOT-89 = 01 to 52 2418 Armstrong Street, Livermore, CA 94550 Tel: (925) 606-5950, Fax: (925) 940-9556 www.baylinear.com B4250 Output Voltage vs. Output Current B4250-3.0 Output Voltage vs. Input Voltage B4250-3.0 Dropout Voltage vs. Output Current B4250-3.0 Bay Linear, Inc 2418 Armstrong Street, Livermore, CA 94550 Tel: (925) 606-5950, Fax: (925) 940-9556 www.baylinear.com B4250 Supply Current vs. Input Voltage (B4250-3.0) Input Transient Response (B4250-3.0) Load Transient Response (B4250-3.0) Bay Linear, Inc Ripple Rejection Ratio (B4250-3.0) 2418 Armstrong Street, Livermore, CA 94550 Tel: (925) 606-5950, Fax: (925) 940-9556 www.baylinear.com B4250 STANDARD CIRCUIT VIN VOUT VIN CIN Tantanium CL 1 µ F Tantanium VSS RL SOT-23 0.015 - 0.018 (0.381 - 0.457) 0.047 - 0.055 0.083 - 0.098 (1.194 - 1.397) (2.108 - 2.489) 0.035 - 0.040 (0.889 - 1.016) 0.020 - 0.024 (0.508 - 0.610) 0.070 - 0.080 (1.778 - 2.032) 0.110 - 0.120 (2.794 - 3.048) 0.001 - 0.004 (0.025 - 0.102) Bay Linear, Inc 0.003 - 0.005 (0.076 - 0.127) 0.030 - 0.041 (0.762 - 1.041) 0.018 - 0.024 (0.457 - 0.610) 2418 Armstrong Street, Livermore, CA 94550 Tel: (925) 606-5950, Fax: (925) 940-9556 www.baylinear.com Advance Information- These data sheets contain descriptions of products that are in development.
