LeddarCore - LeddarTech

OPTICAL TIME-OF-FLIGHT SENSOR IC FAMILY
High-performance, cost-effective,
detection and ranging for any environment
The LeddarCoreTM family of sensor integrated circuits (ICs) is based on Leddar® – LeddarTech’s patented direct optical time-of-flight (ToF)
technology. The technology’s key advantages are high sensitivity, immunity to noise and powerful time-domain processing capabilities.
These benefits enable the development of new high-performance ToF sensors and enhanced designs of existing ToF sensors, both
achievable through the integration of the LeddarCore.
Features
All the Power of Leddar, Built In
Compared to other ToF methods, Leddar complements
direct ToF measurement with complex, patented algorithms applied to a discrete-time representation of the
received echo (see Figure 1). In addition, this unique
technology provides three key benefits that competing
methods do not: a higher range-to-power ratio, enhanced
target detection in low visibility, and the ability to resolve
multiple targets simultaneously from a single light beam. The algorithms also provide additional benefits such as enhanced dynamic range, temperature compensation, and noise cancellation.
• Single- or multiple-photodetector element configurations
• High sensitivity
• Fast and accurate measurements
• Immunity to ambient light
• Low power consumption
• Wide operating temperature range
Benefits
• High range-to-power ratio
• Detection of targets in low visibility
• Ability to resolve multiple targets at once

ICs for a Wide Range of Applications
The LeddarCore LC01 is a very small and ultra-low-power IC
for the development of single-photodetector sensors. It offers exceptional flexibility, as the developer can select the
optoelectronic components and design the analog
front-end (AFE) and pulse driver circuits.
The LC16il is a 16-photodetector-element device that incorporates the photodiode array and the analog front-end components.
It also includes the fundamental signal-processing functions for
detection and ranging inside the IC, thus freeing the application
MCU resources for other tasks. Optionally, the full waveform can
be acquired and processed by the application MCU.
Ultimate Development and Integration Flexibility
To ease integration of the LeddarCore, development tools such as an evaluation board, reference design, sample code, and the signal
processing library are offered. The documentation contains design guides to assist developers in sensor development, including optical,
optoelectronic and electronic components selection and design. Software tools and documentation are also provided to facilitate
configuration, tuning and calibration of the sensor.
