1. Introduction.
1.1.
Description and Purpose.
The following Spring Contacts (also known as Shield Fingers, Spring Fingers or Grounding
Contacts) are part of the EZ-BoardWare range. The purpose of this test program is to confirm
the spring forces of the contacts at pre-determined deflection heights. The second part of this
report was set up to test for durability over during cycle testing of the Spring Contacts.
1.2. Conclusion.
The following test data has been taken from Harwin test reports 610 and 950. Overall, this
report shows how much force each of the Spring Contacts take to achieve certain target
deflection measurements. The forces shown are intended as a guide for each individual
component and customers should do their own testing if they have different requirement
criteria. This report also indicates how many cycles of operation each Spring Contact can
endure before the deflection force and contact resistance is affected.
2. Test Method, Requirements and Results.

S7091-42R – 2.7mm high Spring Contact

S7101-42R – 3.5mm high Spring Contact
h)
S7111-42R – 4.5mm high Spring Contact
i)
S7121-42R – 1.7mm high Spring Contact
2.2. Specification Parameters.
a) The testing performed was a spring force test; contacts were deflected to set heights and
the force applied was recorded. This established a spring force reading for each contact.
b) Durability testing performed on the parts. The cycle testing was performed to establish a
durability rating for each of the Spring Contacts.
2.3. Test Method and Results.
a) The Shield Fingers were soldered to a PCB and tested for spring forces. A load was applied
and the deflection was measured.

Shield fingers were compressed and cycled at 15% and 30% deflection. Deflection force
and contact resistance were recorded.
