Atmel Aerospace
Digital and Mixed-signal Rad-Hard ASIC
Our Unrivalled Flight Heritage
Atmel® Aerospace components are all fully designed, assembled, tested, and qualified in Europe.
For nearly 30 years, the Atmel Aerospace division has been providing rad-hard digital ASICs for the most critical applications.
In order to meet the needs of next-generation satellites and launchers, we are extending our offering with new ASIC platforms:
• ATMX150RHA is a mixed-signal ASIC with non-volatile memory and high-voltage options, based on SOI 150nm technology
• AT65RHA offers a high level of system integration and increased computing power. The device is designed in 65nm
technology, with up to 50 Mgates and more embedded features such as very high-speed serial links.
Atmel rad-hard ASICs are used in a wide range of European commercial and scientific programs:
• Transportation - Ariane V, ISS, ATV
• Earth observation - Meteosat, Cosmo, Pleiades
• Communication - Globalstar, Iridium, Galileo, Sentinel
• Scientific research - Cassini-Huygens, Gaia, Hersch

FPGA Retargeting to ASIC
Retargeting an FPGA to an ASIC means benefiting from the technical advantages of ASICs,
such as a faster and smaller chip with lower power consumption. It also offers improved
reliability and radiation performance. Atmel Aerospace proposes an FPGA retargeting service
to reduce your cost and design resources.
SMPW - Space Multi-Project Wafer
To reduce ASIC development costs, Atmel proposes a Multi Projects Wafer service (SMPW.)
These quarterly SMPWs are also used to embark, at low cost, customer analog test chips
intented for evaluating analog sensitive areas from final ASIC.
SMPW
Certified for Quality and Reliability
We adhere to recognized international standards, including MIL-PRF-38535 and ESCC9000 as
defined by DLA and ESA, as well as ESCC-QML.
