Standards for Daily Allowances
(Accommodation & Meals)
European middle-class standards
Accommodation allowance:
If, in accordance with the contractual agreement, the customer / client provides the
accommodation, the minimum standards set out below apply:
Hotel accommodation: (also applies to rented accommodation)

Lockable, furnished single room (cupboard, side table, table, chairs)
Daylight (window)
Toilet, shower & washroom (single use only)
Air conditioning (if average temperature > 28°C)
Laundry service (minimum once weekly)
"Camp" accommodation: (applies in "camp only" situations)

Furnished single room (cupboard, side table, table, chairs)
Toilet, shower & washroom (single use if possible)
(use limited to max. 2 people)
Common lounge / living room for collective use with max. 4 other people.
Fully equipped kitchen for collective use with max. 4 other people.
Meal allowance:
If, in accordance with the contractual agreement, the customer / client provides the meals
(canteen or catering facilities), the minimum standards set out below apply:

Varied menu including warm Regional and Continental food.
Variety of the food must be ensured (meat, fish, chicken, vegetables, fruits and
carbohydrates).
Continuous canteen operation on work-free days, Sundays and/or public holidays
must be ensured.
Cold and hot drinks.
In the event that the above mentioned minimum standards aren't met or are not sufficiently met,
the ABB employee has the right to claim an examination (Food index “Warenkorb”) and
definition of a corresponding sufficient meal allowance, covering self-catering costs or payment
of the official CH-ABB meal allowance.
