PSD Two-dimensional PSD S1880, S2044 Non-discrete position sensor utilizing photodiode surface resistance PSD (Position Sensitive Detector) is an optoelectronic position sensor utilizing photodiode surface resistance. Unlike discrete element detectors such as CCD, PSD provides continuous position data and features high position resolution and high-speed response. Features Applications l High position resolution l Wide spectral response range l High-speed response l Simultaneous measurements of position and intensity l Position is measured independent of light-spot size l High reliability l Optical position and angle sensing l Remote optical control systems l Automatic range finder systems l Displacement and vibration monitors l Laser beam alignment l Medical equipment ■ General ratings / Absolute maximum ratings Parameter Package Active area size Reverse voltage Operating temperature Storage temperature Symbol VR Max. The detection limit is indicated by distance on the photosensitive surface. The numerical value of the resolution of a position sensor using a PSD is proporional to both the length of the PSD and the noise of the measuring system (resolution deteriorates) and inversely proportional to the photocurrent (incident evergy) of the PSD (resolution improves). · Light source: LED (900 nm) · Photocurrent: 1 µA · Circuit system input noise: 1 µV (1 kHz) · Spot Light size: φ200 µm · Frequency range: 1 kHz · Interelectrode resistance: Typical value (Refer to specification table.) ■ Spectral response ■ Photo sensitivity temperature characteristic 0.8 +2.0 TEMPERATURE COEFFICIENT (%/˚C) QE=100 % PHOTO SENSITIVITY (A/W) 0.7 0.6 0.5 0.4 QE=50 % 0.3 0.2 0.1 0 200 400 600 800 1000 1200 WAVELENGTH (nm) ■ Terminal capacitance vs. reverse voltage (Typ.
