CMOS Divider Features Six Selectable Decades
The RDD106 is a Selectable 6 Decade CMOS Divider that is an enhanced version of the RDD 104. The RDD106
operates at the higher maximum frequency of 30 MHz (compared to 6 MHz for the RDD104) and has two additional
divider modes. The additional modes are Divide by 105 and 106. The RDD106 higher operating frequency allows for
using less expensive and more common High Frequency crystals. The RDD106 is backward compatible to the
RDD104.
The RDD106 features include:
Divide by 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, or 106 selectable using two input pins.

32-bit Quadrature Counter with Serial (SPI) Interface
offers multi-mode programmability
The LS7366 is an Integrated Circuit for decoding and counting quadrature clocks directly from
Incremental Encoders. It provides for a dedicated solution to position and displacement tracking

at 40x10 /sec line rate (at 5V) from the encoder and a count limit of 2 . Its serial interface (SPI)
greatly reduces the required IO wire count as compared to a parallel bus structure. It can also
operate with non-quadrature clock signals and provides various counting modes for signal
conditioning. The LS7366 operates over the voltage range of 3V to 5.5V.
Programming of the LS7366 and all communications between itself and a host controller are
made with four simple instructions: READ_reg, WRITE_reg, LOAD_reg and CLEAR_reg. The
functional modes are controlled with two bytes of data written into two on-chip Mode Registers.
The configurable modes are:
-Quadrature/non-quadrature count inputs
-Quad cycle resolution selection by factor of x1, x2 or x4
-Modulo-n counting for programmable frequency generation
-Range-limit counting for Limit-switch emulation
-Single-cycle counting
-1-Byte/2-Byte/3-Byte/4-Byte counter modes with auto-adjust of IO byte count.
The Count related status is stored in a Status register. A 32-bit Input Register along with a 32-bit
Comparator is provided for comparing a target value with the instantaneous count. Two maskable
output Flags are also provided for signaling count related events. The Index and the Quadrature
inputs are digitally filtered for noise suppression.
The LS7366 is offered in Standard and fully RoHS compliant
14-Pin DIP, SOIC and TSSOP packages.

24-Bit x 4-Axes Quadrature Clock Counter
LSI/CSI introduces the LS7566, the latest addition to its Incremental Encoder Interface family of
ICs. It provides an efficient hardware solution for extracting Position Data directly from up to four
Incremental Encoders. The Input Quadrature Clocks from Encoders are digitally filtered for
elimination of noise and errors arising out of Encoder dither, providing a high level of reliability.
Communications to host processors are facilitated by a three-state Octal Bus and an Interrupt
Protocol with selections from a pool of Marker Flags.
The LS7566 includes four identical Channels, each featuring:
• 24-bit Up/Down Counter for accumulating Incremental Encoder Positional Data
• 24-bit Input Register along with its companion 24-bit Comparator for Target Position Data
• 24-bit Output Register for snapshots of instantaneous Counter Data.
• 4-bit shared Global Interrupt Mask Register for Interrupt Enable/Disable
• Two Control Registers for functional Mode configuration.
Configurable Modes and Functions include:
-- Quadrature/Nonquadrature Input Clock
-- Quadrature Clock resolution enhancement by up to 4x
-- Modulo-n/Non-Recycle/Free-Run counting
-- Emulation of Limit Switch actuation
-- Z-track based programmable Index and maskable Output Marker Flags.
The Control Registers are both Write and Read Enabled for easier System Diagnostics.
For system throughput and interconnect simplicity, the maskable Interrupts from all channels are
integrated into a single Global Hardware Interrupt Output along with embedding the interrupting
Channel Identity in a 4-bit Read-Only Interrupt Status Register.
The maximum Count Frequency is 40MHz. Operating voltage is 3V to 5.5V.
The LS7566 is available in Standard and fully RoHS compliant 48-pin TSSOP packages.
