PD24-03

PD24-03
v 1.0 27.11.2014
Description
PD24-03 is fabricated from narrow band-gap GaInAsSb/AlGaAsSb-based heterostructures lattice
matched to GaSb substrate. The photodiode chip has a photosensitive area of Ø 300 µm and is disposed
inside a TO-18 package.
The PD is specified with a maximum sensitivity wavelength of 1.4 – 2.4 µm and a cut-off at 2.4 µm.

Recommended Modes of Photodiode Operation
Photovoltaic Mode
Photoconductive Mode
We recommend using photovoltaic mode, when PD is used under reverse bias.
Use Photoconductive mode (mode with reverse bias) with caution!
Precautions
Operation:
• Check your connection circuits before turning on the PD.
• Mind the PD polarity: PD anode is marked with a RED dot.
• DO NOT connect the PD to the multimeter.
Soldering:
•
•
•
•
•
Do avoid overheating of the PD
Do avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD)
Do avoid mechanical stress, shock, and vibration
Do only use non-corrosive flux
Do not apply current to the LED until it has cooled down to room temperature after soldering
Static Electricity:
PDs are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Precautions against ESD must be taken when
handling or operating these PDs. Surge voltage or electrostatic discharge can result in complete
failure of the device.
