The S6SAL211A31 evaluation board is designed for Spansion’s S6AL211 family of
intelligent LED lighting single chip solution for 72W LED lighting compatible with
DALI communication. This board supports DALI communication standard, IEC62386
and enables users to adjust brightness into 254 steps as well as set and evaluate fade,
addressing, grouping, scene, etc.

This evaluation board is available for various office lighting applications providing

DALI stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface. This is standardized by International Electrotechnical Commission, IEC62386, as an open protocol
for lighting control communication and used for dimming multiple fluorescent lighting and LED lighting. LED lighting is replacing incandescent lighting
and fluorescent lighting in an effort to save energy. Using lighting control systems effectively is expected to contribute to further energy savings. DALI is a
protocol of advanced lighting control and became common mainly in Europe as a replacement dimming method with conventional 0-10V dimming method
and PWM dimming method. DALI is expected to become widely used in the US and Asia.
In a DALI system, a maximum 64 slaves are connectable with one master. In terms of controllability, maintainability (state monitoring by bidirectional
communication), scalability (addable and flexible short/group address settings), and functionality (settable fade and maximum 16 scenes), DALI is useful in
centralizing lighting management systems primarily in office buildings and commercial facilities.
