VolitionTM VF-45TM Field Mount Plug 3M™ Volition™ Network Solutions introduces a new field-mountable version of the innovative VF-45 plug. The 3M™ Volition™ VF-45™ Field Mount Plug facilitates the use of consolidation point designs, enables emergency link creation through field-made cable assemblies, and allows custom length cable assemblies to be made on site. Since it is terminated with the current VF-45 socket installation kit, you can count on fast, duplex termination and high reliability. 3M™ Volition™ VF-45™ Field Mount Plug in Consolidation Point Applications The consolidation point (CP) is a newly designated network configuration in TIA/EIA 568B.3, ISO11801 and EN 50173. This design (midfloor figure 1) allows a high-count Fibre Feed Cable to be pulled to a Passive Consolidation Point Box and terminated with VF-45 sockets. A Two-Fibre Extender Cable is pulled from the CP to the Telecommunications Outlet (TO). The VF-45 Field Mount Plug is terminated to the CP side of the TwoFibre Extender Cable run, and a VF-45 socket is terminated at the TO (figure 2). As shown in the diagram (top floor figure 1), Consolidation Points can also include active electronics in a hybrid fibre/copper configuration. In this scenario, Two-Fibre Feed Cable is pulled to a switch, inside the Active Consolidation Point.
