Detailed Description of Changes:
The termination finish on all PCB's will change from immersion tin to electroless nickel immersion gold
(ENIG). The glass transition temperature (Tg) will increase from 130 ° C to 170° C.
Reason for Changes:
The change will improve part robustness through thermocycle and improve solderability through multiple
customer reflows at the higher temperatures required for the non-lead solders being used to comply with the
European Union's Reduction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS).
Projected Timing of Change and Implementation Date:
MtronPTI expects to have products available using ENIG by February 1, 2006.
Anticipated Impact on Quality and Reliability:
ENIG plated terminations have demonstrated improved solderability over immersion tin.
Qualification Plan (if applicable):
FR-4 products constructed using ENIG currently are undergoing multiple reflow, thermocycling, high
temperature operating life testing. Expected time for completion is January 31, 2006.
