dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 and PIC24EPXXXMC204 dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 and PIC24EPXXXMC204 Plug-In Module (PIM) Information Sheet for Motor Control (MC) Devices Using External Op amps The dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 and PIC24EPXXXMC204 PIM is designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 and PIC24EPXXXMC204 Motor Control devices using external Op amps with development boards such as the dsPICDEM™ MCLV, MCHV, and MCSM (DM330021, DM330023, and DM330022), which support 100-pin PIM interfaces. The dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 is a high-performance, 16-bit Digital Signal Controller (DSC) within a small 44-pin QFN package. The PIC24EPXXMC204 microcontroller (MCU) is similar in that it shares many of the same peripheral features; however, it is not equipped with the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) engine or other DSP features. TABLE 1: Device Pin Number The dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 and PIC24EPXXXMC204 devices are equipped with Peripheral Pin Select (PPS), which allows many of the digital peripherals to be remapped to use any number of pins on the device. The PIM takes advantage of PPS by using zero ohm resistors to connect the I/O to one of the 100-pin development boards previously listed. Simply removing the zero ohm resistors and using the test points associated with each I/O pin (i.e., pin 1, pin 2, etc.), allows a designer to re-route the pin to any of the available pins on of the development boards. This capability enables easier and faster design times. Table 1 shows the mapping between the development board functions and the device pins. 44-PIN TO 100-PIN PINOUT dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 and PIC24EPXXXMC204 PIM Pin Number Functional Description Device Pin Number dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 and PIC24EPXXXMC204 PIM Pin Number Functional Description 1 TMS/ASDA1/RP41/RB9 19 Fault Reset 23 PGEC1/AN4/C1IN1+/RPI34/RB2 42 Phase 2 Voltage Feedback 2 RP54/RC6 77 Data 2 24 PGED1/AN5/C1IN1-/RP35/RB3 43 Phase 3 Voltage Feedback 3 RP55/RC7 78 Data 3 25 AN6/OA3OUT/C4IN1+/OCFB/RC0 — N/A 4 RP56/RC8 68, 20 Hall Sensor A/ QEB_POT 26 AN7/C3IN1-/C4IN1-/RC1 20 QEB_POT 5 RP57/RC9 69, 21 Hall Sensor B/ QEA 27 AN8/C3IN1+/U1RTS/BCLK1/FLT3/ RC2 32 Bus Shunt 6 VSS 65 28 VDD 16 N/A 7 VCAP 85 VCAP 29 VSS 15 N/A 8 RP42/PWM3H/RB10 3 PWMH3 30 OSC1/CLKI/RA2 63 OSC1 OSC2 N/A 9 RP43/PWM3L/RB11 100 PWML3 31 OSC2/CLKO/RA3 64 10 RPI44/PWM2H/RB12 99 PWMH2 32 SDA2/RPI24/RA8 83 Switch 1 11 RPI45/PWM2L/CTPLS/RB13 98 PWML2 33 FLT32/SCL2/RP36/RB4 84 Switch 2 12 TDO/RA10 — N/A 34 CVREF2O/SDO1/RP20/T1CK/RA4 81 Enable 13 TDI/RA7 71 PWM Enable 35 SDI1/RPI25/RA9 82 RD/WR 14 RPI46/PWM1H/T3CK/RB14 94 PWMH1 36 SCK1/RPI51/RC3 44 RS 15 RPI47/PWM1L/T5CK/RB15 93 PWML1 37 SDA1/RPI52/RC4 72 Data 0 16 AVSS 31 N/A 38 SCL1/RPI53/RC5 76 Data 1 17 AVDD 30 N/A 39 VSS 36 N/A 18 MCLR 13 Master Clear 40 VDD 37 N/A 19 AN0/OA2OUT/RA0 25 Phase 1 Current Feedback 41 PGED2/ASDA2/RP37/RB5 27 Debug 20 AN1/C2IN1+/RA1 24 Phase 2 Current Feedback 42 PGEC2/ASCL2/RP38/RB6 26 Debug 21 PGED3/VREF-/AN2/C2IN1-/ SS1/RPI32/CTED2/RB0 35 DC Bus 43 RP39/INT0/RB7 22 PGEC3/VREF+/AN3/OA1OUT/ RPI33/CTED1/RB1 41 Phase 1 Voltage Feedback 44 TCK/CVREF1O/ASCL1/RP40/ T4CK/RB8 © 2011 Microchip Technology Inc. 22, 70 18 Index/Hall Sensor C Fault A DS52004A-page 1 DATA2 DATA3 DATA1 76 77 78 79 RD/WR SW1 E 80 81 82 83 VCAP SW2 84 85 86 87 88 89 90 91 PWMH1 PWML1 92 93 94 95 96 PWMH2 PWML2 97 98 99 J1 1 100 PWML3 100-PIN HEADER SCHEMATIC 75 VDD 2 74 PWMH3 3 73 4 72 5 71 6 70 7 69 8 68 9 67 10 66 11 65 12 64 100_PIM_Socket MCLR 13 14 63 62 15 61 16 60 17 59 FLT1A 18 FLT_RST 19 58 QEB/POT 20 QEA 21 56 INDX 22 23 54 Phase2_CF 24 Phase1_CF 25 52 57 55 RS 50 49 48 47 46 45 44 43 Phase3_VF Phase2_VF 42 41 Phase1_VF 40 39 38 37 VDD VSS 36 35 DC_BUS 34 33 32 Bus_Shunt VSS 31 29 30 AVDD PDED2 28 51 27 © 2011 Microchip Technology Inc. 53 26 VDD PGEC2 VSS DATA0 PWM_EN HSC HSB HSA VSS OSC2 OSC1 VDD dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 and PIC24EPXXXMC204 DS52004A-page 2 FIGURE 1: Pin2 R18 DNP QEB/POT Pin3 Pin4 R27 DNP Pin5 QEA 3 4 7 10 µF R23 0R E RD/WR R24 0R Pin34 RA4 34 35 RA9 RC3 36 Pin36 Pin35 R28 0R RS DATA0 Pin37 37 RC4 38 VSS RC5 39 VDD 40 Pin38 PDED2 R29 0R DATA1 R30 0R 0.1 µF C4 VDD PGEC2 42 43 RP55 OSCO RP54 OSCI RP57 VSS dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 PIC24EPXXXMC204 VSS VDD VCAP RC2 AN5 AN3 22 AN2 Pin22 Pin21 Phase1_VF R22 0R DC_BUS Phase2_CF R14 0R R13 0R Phase1_CF 21 AN1 Pin20 20 19 AN0 MCLR 18 MCLR Pin19 AVDD PWML1 R11 0R PWMH1 AN4 R12 0R 0.1 µF Pin14 R10 0R Pin13 R15 0R DS52004A-page 3 PWM_EN AVDD RA7 13 12 Pin12 17 PWM2L AVSS 11 PWM2H RA10 Pin11 RC0 16 10 PWMH2 PWM3L C2 9 PWM1L Pin10 AN7/RC1 15 PWML3 PWM3H PWM1H 8 Pin9 R8 0R R9 0R RPI24 33 32 31 30 R20 0R SW2 R19 0R Pin32 SW1 OSC2 OSC1 29 0.1 µF VSS VDD 28 27 Pin27 Pin26 26 25 R16 0R Bus_Shunt Pin8 PWMH3 R7 0R PR54 14 R6 0R Pin33 RP36 C3 5 6 C1 RP41 Pin15 R5 0R 2 RP39 1 HSA PWML2 44 Pin1 R2 0R VCAP RP40 U1 R31 0R DATA3 PGED2 R32 0R DATA2 41 PGEC2 FLT_RST HSB VSS INDX HSC R26 DNP R3 0R Pin43 R1 0R Pin44 R4 0R FLT1A 44-PIN DEVICE SCHEMATIC QEB/POT Pin25 Pin24 24 23 R17 0R R21 0R Phase3_VF Pin23 R25 0R Phase2_VF dsPIC33EPXXXMC504 and PIC24EPXXXMC204 © 2011 Microchip Technology Inc.
