Migrating from HI5780 to the HI2315 The HI5780 and HI2315 are 10-Bit, 80 MSPS, high speed, low power CMOS D/A converters. Both converters incorporate a 10-bit input data register with current outputs. Both include a power down feature that reduces power consumption and a blanking control. Both have an on-chip bandgap reference that can be used to set the output current range of the D/A. A specification review of the 2 devices shows that features, pinout, and electrical specifications of the HI2315 are the same or better than those of the HI5780 with the exception of Data Hold Time. Lab characterization shows that the HI2315 meets or exceeds the output performance characteristics of the HI5780. Reviewing this data shows the HI2315 to be an excellent replacement for applications now using the HI5780.
