High-Performance PureCel-S™ 16-Megapixel Sensor
with Stacked Die Technology for the Next Generation
of Premium and Mainstream Smartphones
The PureCel-S™ OV16850 is a high-performance
16-megapixel PureCel-S™ sensor for the next
generation of premium and mainstream smartphones.
The OV16850 leverages OmniVision's stacked die
technology and uses a 1.12-micron pixel to capture
ultra-high resolution images and video in a native 16:9
format packed into a compact module size. The native
high definition format of the sensor allows for the
smartphone camera to match its display without any
loss in field-of-view for snapshots and video, with a
binned resolution matching next-generation "2K" quad
high definition (QHD) premium smartphone displays.
The OV16850 delivers best-in-class sensitivity, signalto-noise ratio, and full-well capacity for a 1.12-micron
pixel. The 1/2.6-inch OV16850 uses a high chief ray
angle (CRA) to enable a module size of 9.5 x 9.5 x 5.5 mm,
the smallest size yet for a 16-megapixel sensor and
suitable for today's slim smartphones. It is capable of
capturing full-resolution 16-megapixel images at
30 frames per second (fps). It can also record 4K2K
video at 30 fps, or 4-megapixel QHD video at 60 fps
with full field of view.
