Among the various flavors of Passive Optical Network (PON) systems including BPON and EPON, GPON has received a lot of attention recently as a next generation Fiber-To-The-Premises (FTTP) optical access system that can provide subscribers with voice, data, and video services at Giga-bit speed. The optical transceivers introduced here are designed to satisfy the demands from worldwide GPON system suppliers. The OLT transceiver, OAT6224S-OLT-G1, is for use in Optical Line Terminal (OLT) equipment that is located at the office of the service provider. The ONU transceiver, OAT1234S-ONU-G1, is for use in Optical Network Unit (ONU) equipment that is located at the subscriber’s premises. Both OLT and ONU transceivers are compliant with the GPON ITU-T G.984.2 specification. New Products Optical Transceivers for Features • ITU-T G984.2 compliant • 1,244 Mbit/s downstream, 622 Mbit/s upstream line-rates • Extended temperature range (−40 to +85°C) version available • 2-wire serial interface for status monitoring (OLT) • SFF-compliant package (ONU) GPON OLT/ONU Table 1.
