As the awareness of the environmental protection infiltrates into society, the markets of electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) are expanding. For these electricity-driven automobiles, Fujikura has been developing highvoltage wiring harnesses with a rated voltage of 600V. We have recently developed new 3-pole waterproof connectors fitting to small-sized high voltage equipment such as electric pumping or air conditioning systems and have started the commercial shipment. The specifications and the appearance of the products are shown in Table 1 and Fig.1. New Products Features 1. The novel connector is suitable for 3-core shielded wires. See Fig. 2. The new design contributes to a reduction of the wiring harness diameter. 2. Our proprietary press-fit structure for a braided wire has improved productivity and downsized the connectors. 3. A waterproof grommet covering the braded wire well prevents invasions of dust, sand, and rust of the wire caused by water. 4. Double-locking structure ensures the reliability of mating of the connected parts and prevents involuntary detachment of the mating.
