DC Power for Discontinued Business-Critical Continuity LORAIN® VRR 243600 DC Power System Discontinued Key Features ■ Relay rack mountable for replacing traditional rectifiers in existing systems ■ Available factory-installed in relay racks for expanding existing LORAIN® VPS or VRR systems ■ 75% smaller size than traditional rectifiers for increased system capacity and growth ■ Single point adjustment and monitoring provided through the LORAIN® VRR metercontrol-alarm unit (MCA) ■ Use of a factory adjusted plug-n-play PCU simplifies system installation ■ Complies with industry standards: UL listed, NEBS Level 3 compliant (rectifiers and shelves), and FCC Class B rated (optional) This compact, reliable DC Power solution from Emerson Network Power is ideal for replacement of traditional rectifiers or expansion of LORAIN® VPS or VRR Power Systems. Product Overview The LORAIN® VRR replaces traditional Ferro-resonant or thyristor controlled units and provides current capacities ranging from 130 to 3600 amps at +24VDC. This system is approximately 75% smaller than traditional rectifiers, permitting increased capacity, available rack space, and installation of additional equipment. Installation time is minimized since the existing power distribution board is used. Power connections are conveniently located at the top of the system for up to six 4/0 AWG cables per polarity. Since the existing bus voltage, system shunt and fuse/breaker alarm signals can be read by the LORAIN® VRR MCA, the existing meter and alarm panels can be replaced with the latest LORAIN® VRR MCA monitor system. Multiple shelves can be configured in a single bay with a maximum rating of 1200 amps. Multiple bays can be paralleled for a maximum system rating of 3600 amps. Front View with (1) Rectifier Shelf The LORAIN® VPS or VRR may be expanded by adding rectifier expansion bays as an alternative to using space in the existing LORAIN® power bays or when no space is available in the existing bay(s). 130 Amp PCU Additional Information For additional specification, engineering or installation information, specify 581122500 (power system) and 588703800 (520 amp rectifier shelf and 130 amp rectifiers). For ordering information request SAG581122500 and PD588703800. 2 Application The LORAIN® VRR is designed for wireline and wireless communication systems installed in small offices, huts, CEVs and CUEs. System Specifications Operating Ambient Temperature Range -40°C to +50°C (-40°F to +122°F) Storage Ambient Temperature Range -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F) Output Capacity 1200 amps per bay, 3600 amps per system Discontinued Power Conversion Unit Specifications Physical Characteristics Mounting Plug-in installation Dimensions (HxWxD) 9.88" (25.08cm) x 5.13" (13.02cm) x 14.5" (36.83cm) Weight 18 lbs. (8.16 kg) Input Voltage Nominal 208/240 volts AC, single phase, 50/60 Hz, with a range of 176 to 264 volts. Extended range to 290 volt AC. Inrush Current Peak does not exceed 2 times the RMS input at full load, under any conditions of input voltage within the rated input voltage range Frequency 45-70 Hz Protection Each PCU is individually wired and connections for individual AC input branch circuits are provided. If the AC input voltage decreases or increases beyond a non-adjustable predetermined value, the PCU power conversion circuitry inhibits, disabling PCU output. The PCU will recover automatically when the AC input voltage is re-established within specifications limits. Power Factor Typical power factor greater than or equal to 98% for any load greater than or equal to 50% of rated full load at nominal line. Meets IEC 1000–3–2. Operating Efficiency Typical operating efficiency 89% at full load Output Voltage Nominal +24 volts DC, negative ground, adjustable from 23.0 to 28.5 volts DC Current 130 amps per PCU, up to a total of 520 amps per shelf with four PCUs installed. Regulation Steady state output voltage remains within ±0.5% of any voltage within the range of 23.0 to 28.5 volts DC for a combination of frequency, input voltage, and load from no load to full load over the temperature range of -20°C to +50°C (-4°F to +122°F). Filtering On or off battery Voice Band Noise Less than 32 dBrnC Wide Band Noise Does not exceed 250 mv peak-to-peak, or 25 mv rms Psophometric Noise Does not exceed 1 mv Protection Current Limiting Maximum output current of each PCU can be set from 10% to 105% of full load current. High Voltage Shutdown If PCU output voltage exceeds an adjustable preset value, the PCU shuts down. After approximately three seconds, the PCU automatically restarts. Monitoring Status/Alarm Indicators Extensive alarming and status indicators such as AC on/off, fan fail, PCU failure and open sense are displayed on the 16-character numerical display of the MCA and on the PCUs in the shelf. Environmental Operating Temperature -20°C to +50°C (-4°F to +122°F); -40°C to +65°C (-40°F to +149°F) at 110 amps output Storage Temperature -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F) Humidity 0% to 95% relative humidity, non-condensing Altitude The maximum operating ambient temperature should be derated by 10°C (18°F) at an elevation of 10,000' (3,048m) above sea level. For elevations between 3,000' (914m) and 10,000' (3,048m), derate the maximum operating ambient temperature linearly. Ventilation Fan-cooled front to rear EMI/RFI Suppression Conforms to FCC rules Part 15, Subpart B, Class A, with an option for FCC and CISPR22 Class B emission ratings. Audible Noise 3' from any vertical surface does not exceed 65dBA; 55dBA with low fan speed selected.
